  • Cant comment on endeavour as I've not used it. Not fan of snaps either and go for deb when on ubuntu. Now pop doesnt even have snaps by default.

Only reason I might install snap is becos I want to try microk8s and not setup a full on k8s cluster.

  • Whats a good way to start with nixos? Are there default configs to start from?

Everytime I go to the site to try I postpone for some reason, but mainly apprehension of deviating too mudh from debian base which has been my most used distros.

And how recommended is it to have nix package manager in popos or any debian based?

  • Equating Android and desktop linux isnt very accurate. Terminal on android is very limited compared to linux. Many common softwares are still installed with commands and occasionally need maintenance and most are done via commands.

Recently helped a few setup ubuntu as dual boot. Installation isnt always smooth and most accompanying software stores are buggy or dont have many commonly used softwares.

  • The terrace farming was suggested as solution in south america not the alps. I doubt there is much scope for any farming on the Alps or any similar terrain.

And how exactly would permafrost work in a mostly rocky terrain, unless its very loose small gravely soil. Most tall peaks at those elevations are large contiguous rocks. Its hard to believe those were held together by permafrost. I might be missing some context here.

  • Those might actually be the best places to live but has drawbacks to sprawling settlements like modern cities.

River banks and other water bodies supported most civilizations for millennia despite risk of floodings. Valleys would typically be avoided for risks of diseases, water stagnation, etc but those are easier to construct modern buildings.

None of the places on the earth would be immune to the changes that happens in the scale you are mentioning.

  • Am not a farmer but, doesn't terrace farming lead to soil erosion and lead to more mudslides? Typically because most trees are removed along the mountain sides which would have larger root networks than crops?

A similar issue is going on in china with promotion of terrace farming and crop loss in recent floods.

  • That reminded of the shitty cam print of Iron Man 1. Started from the Humvee scene a minute before getting blown off. 20-30% was dark or pointed at floor for whatever reason. Godawful audio.

Thought it was a shitty movie halfway though and stopped. Got a good print after Iron man 2 released and faithfully watched all marvel release, many in cinemas, till Infinity war. Now its all available on Disney+ and I won't watch the new ones after it.
