Note to mention that not only are they harder to scale attacks against, manual vote counts are easier to trust, As anyone can understand the process and how it ensured that their vote counted.

No matter how well they are protected it's hard to explain to the average person how a computer ensures their vote was counted correctly.

I haven't, that's really interesting, slightly on the complicated side to sell to people though.
So you vote both for candidate and party seperately and then once all the candidates are put in seats, they add more representatives designated by the parties to balence the party representation?

Local representation is not great for passing laws, but it is amazing to get things fixed that got bound up in the bureaucracy. Like expedite a passport, or figure out why a pension didn't come. Having your MLA or MP speak for you often has a greater impact than going solo. And it nice that your repw usually has a local office in reasonable travel distance, if you want to speak to them in person.

I have mixed feelings about Proportional Representation, I'm worried it would lessen the "local candidate" element of the election. I like the concept of voting for a local representative from my area in Parliament, no matter their party affiliation.

Then again, I like the theory behind Ranked Ballots, but unfortunately in practice they tend to just funnel third party votes to the main parties, which is not right either.

I suppose we could go with PR/STV and triple the amount of representatives to still have some sort of local area representative scheme... but that could get expensive and unwieldy very quick.

Could we get rid of the Senate and have two houses? One house small riding FPTP for local area representation, and one house be party based PR by province?

It is unfortunate the former reform part of the CPC is unlikely to let it happen, but a "Progressive Conservative" leader like Peter Mackay or Tim Houston could be very popular in the current political climate

People who make cheese as a hobby have called for the ability to buy raw milk for years.
That said alot of people in the hobby also confuse pasteurization with homogenization. I can get cheese almost as good as raw milk by mixing pasturized skim and heavy cream together. Trying to use Homogenized milk results in a mess.

Heh, I actually had greedy when intially typing the comment and changed it after some thought.
Greedy might be more apt, as from basic economics you would think price should come down as more players entered the market... But we've seen the opposite.
The price of the subscription isnt what bother me personally though, I used to pay alot more for cable, its more the quanity of subscriptions/ accounts/apps that have to be used that drove me away.

I would have continued to pay a steadily increasing price for Netflix if they kept being a "one stop shop" for content.
I was very annoyed when they dropped Mythbusters and Dr Who halfway through me watching them, and then loosing all the Disney movies was just a nail in the coffin.
Even if it cost less, I could not be bothered to maintain multiple subscriptions/accounts/passwords for the content I want.

Agreed, health is gained by exercise, but weight is mostly lost in the kitchen.

Yep. The video entertainment industry had a great solution to piracy in Netflix and it had moved piracy out of the mainstream... Then companies got competitive and content became fractured across a multitude of platforms.
