  • Big houses kinda suck in many ways. Bigger HVAC system to replace. Bigger roof. More flooring. More paint. More cabinets. More plumbing fixtures. Bigger tax bill. Bigger utility bills. All of that means more time and many to maintain or replace.

  • I've said it for decades at this point, but we really need to add philosophy to our standard curriculum;

    YES!!! I've been saying it too! I'd leave out metaphysics other than an introduction to what it is with an example or two. We are seriously lacking in epistemology. I would focus it mainly on epistemology and ethics though.

  • Unfortunately, social media is highly influencial of public opinion, so it is a civic responsibility that those with life experience and expertise with things need to engage in. Failure to do so effectively is rolling over for MAGA Nazis 2.0.

    We need to be better at rhetoric and debate. Cicero wrote over 2 millenia ago about the power of eloquence.

    "Wisdom without eloquence does too little for the good of communities, but eloquence without wisdom is, in most instances, extremely harmful and never beneficial. If, then, anyone exerts all of his energies in the practice of oratory to the neglect of the highest and most honorable pursuits of reason and moral conduct, he is reared as a citizen useless to himself and harmful to his country; but the person who arms himself with eloquence in such a way that enables him not to assault the interest of his country, but rather assist them, this man, in my opinion, will be a citizen most helpful and most devoted both to his own interests and those of the public.”

    In recent years, the unwise have weaponized eloquence. The wise among us have failed spectacularly at understanding the importance and power of persuasion.

  • Those are the things you've gone to bat for, that is the realized vision of the Biden-Harris regime.

    There's a difference between making the best of a bad situation and going to bat for it. Your choices were someone who there is a chance of reigning in Israel or someone that told them to do whatever they want with weapons we send. The latter is obviously a bad choice unless you agree with Israel.

  • Well, to all the folks arguing with me on how voting for Harris was bad because of Gaza: CONGRATULATIONS! You REALLY made a point there. The Palestinians had a chance under Harris. Instead of voting for a chance for the Palestinians, you did nothing or voted for genocide. You did it from the other side of the world, where you won't have to suffer the consequences.

  • The tariffs will tank consumption and possibly reduce greenhouse gas emissions?

    Blue states can raise taxes since the fed government will lower taxes and provide a kickass quality of life without funding the red states.

    Since they love the 10th amendment, blue states can go hog wild with running things in a sane manner.

    Hell, maybe the US will split into 3: Pacifica on the West Coast, magastan, and Atlantica (East Coast)

  • You can’t just gloss over tens of thousands of deaths and say got for more of it and harass grieving families for not going with your plan.

    Why even bring up Hamas as an excuse, except to avoid addressing Biden’s role in mass starvation of civilians?

    I'm not the one making excuses. I voted for Harris. Remember the travel bans early in Trump's first presidency targeting Muslims? Remember his deportation rhetoric. I wouldn't be surprised to find some folks deported to Gaza. I don't wish this on them, but that is a possibility.

    The US isn't attacking Gaza, Israel is. What is Biden's role exactly? Providing over 1 billion in aid to Gaza?

  • It's not a fantasy. It's anger and disdain for the stupidity of voting against their own interests and bringing others down with them, not wishing harm. I've said this in other posts, but I bet there is more than meets the eye with this situation that we aren't privy to. The options were the VP of a guy that did provide some aid to Gaza and told Netanyahu he was going too far, which they feel isn't enough, or a guy that is ok with them just wiping them out. The choice is a chance for Palestine to survive vs all but certain annihilation. Does anyone think Hamas would do anything different if the roles were reversed? I don't have a solution, but Trump is going to give them more of what they have a grievance with.
