  • Personally I am sick of reading that the feddiverse is confusing and never going to take off or never going to do this or that. Even if it’s true, which time will tell. It’s like the same article over and over. I thought your blog was just any other random article like “What is the feddiverse? Well it’s this and it’s cool but it’s overhyped”

Maybe those of us who are trying to make Lemmy, mastodon etc happen are too sensitive about it 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Oh shit. lol no I’ll just edit my comment and not say anything rude

  • Edit: congrats on publishing your blog! It’s cool that your put yourself out there. Hope you have a good night.

(My comment wasn’t nice, didn’t realize op wrote it and now feel embarrassed)

  • Thank you for not doing them even if you possibly could get away with it at some shows. Larry the Cable Guy is a millionaire but you know his grandchildren are going to be ashamed of him as they go to college using money made by telling jokes about trans people in bathrooms. It’s easy but it’s wrong and we all know it.

  • Nothing more Reddit than complaining about Reddit

  • Yep the girlfriend metaphor is weird since it would make most of us polygamous. Miss my old girlfriend, love the current one and have my eye on several new ones. Calkey….mm she sexy and pixelfed seems like a cool chick as well but more my little sister’s type to be honest

  • Can’t imagine what my day would have been like if I hadn’t known this.

  • I see one post that is 3 hours old and all the rest are over 6 months old. Any idea why?

  • Having something like Siri or Alexa that was actually smart would be great…

  • I really hope making fun of gender pronouns isn’t acceptable in 20 years. My name is Ted Cruz and my pronounce are U.S.A.

Not just super lame boomer jokes but shitting on people who feel invisible and pronouns help them feel recognized as a full person.

  • Not have a panic attack when someone is mildly displeased with me

  • I don’t think it’s illegal but several things are true

    1. It’s delusional to think it’s ok to treat grown-ass adults like children in this way
    2. That type of delusion is 100% corporate culture in retail and food service management. I was a retail manager and it’s scary how skillfully they normalize abhorrent behavior because we need team players and other such gaslighting.
    3. Even given item 2, it is clearly a very bad idea for a manager to subjectively approve or deny shift switches based on the reason for them. Soooooo many HR pitfalls that could lead to accusations, lawsuits, fines, etc.

Is it illegal to ask why you need to switch? Probably not, though it’s a bad idea (for them). Can they legally require you to tell them? I don’t think so. Can they fire you if you don’t follow the policy? Depends on the state laws, employee handbook, and lots of details.

I’m not a lawyer and I’m not your friend but these people are clowns…they are trying to run their store the (wrong) way they’ve been taught. The policy is silly and wrong. You don’t have to tell them shit. Tell them it’s none of their business or tell them you are sacrificing a baby on an altar made of cat hair, or you turn into a werewolf on Thursdays. Be nice to the clowns (they may be sad inside) but don’t respect them if they behave like idiots.*

    *you may get fired

  • This is so cute cause it is meant to be a shower thought but actually belongs in nostupidquestions

  • Dropping a link with no context is the very definition of “low effort” and those should be removed or downvoted. Here’s an article, here’s a video…ok…why do I care? Why is it relevant? What’s good about it?

If you sent the link to your friend in a text, what would you tell them? What makes it worth sharing?

I really wish this was thought about universally. Half of the stuff in the big “news” and “technology” communities seems like it’s just posted mindlessly with no context. It completely missed the point of having a community where you share content…not just post content.

Appreciation for all of the moderators and users making Lemmy great ❤️

  • No one should participate in a single meeting until they fire Steve Huffman. They cannot begin to mend the shit relationship they created unless they apologize for his bullshit…and that apology won’t mean anything if he still works there.

  • YES your comment really brings me back and hits the nail on the head. I remember in the mid 2000’s when we all moved from MySpace to Facebook it was pretty empty…there were several years where you could literally “catch up” on Facebook, having literally seen every single new post since the last time you logged on.

It’s been humorous watching Facebook try to replace or compete with tumblr/blogspot, Craigslist, photo hosting sites, YouTube, Twitch, TikTok…the whole FarmVille era with shitty games. Location checkins. I don’t understand why they aren’t just content to be the biggest website in the world, sell ads and sell your data and get paid. Allowing you to have a feed where you ONLY see friends and pages you follow wouldn’t prevent that. But they need to be the curator of what you see…I guess.

The part that is bizarre with threads is that people WANT a twitter replacement…so why doesn’t Facebook just made a really good one, get everyone hooked and THEN enshittify everything with the curated feed, algorithms, manipulation. They could even pull in mastodon users by having a good app and federation (if some people are dumb enough to get hoodwinked). I think they’ve already lost that chance because people have logged in and seen that it’s clearly a trap to feed you ads with an ILLUSION of being able to follow friends and celebrities or whatever.

I’m glad that they didn’t make threads worth a damn because if they had it might have worked…

But what do I know. I’m not an evil genius like zuck, Elmo, Bozos etc

  • I guess we should just be thankful it was rushed and everyone who signed in saw that it was soulless bullshit and it’ll die…

I really hope we can get people to start being skeptical about getting sucked in by these “new” social media platforms when they are bankrolled by megacorporations. It’s going to end badly…even if you like it today they are going to fuck us.

  • Using icecubes…on mastodon.world. I think it worked it was just weirding me out and searching google doesn’t bring lot of detailed info on what blocking does. I kind of enjoy just viewing local and seeing what random people are posting but lots of stuff in Chinese and lots of weird porn 😂

    I appreciate you answering me

  • Sweet that JonBaker guy is my type of humor. Great follow.
