But THEY DON'T SUPPORT THOSE THINGS! YOU'RE MAKING SHIT UP. THIS IS EASY TO SEE IF YOU GO LOOK AT WHAT THEY ACTUALLY SAY ABOUT FASCISTS AND TRANSPHOBES. YOU HAVE BEEN AT THIS FOR AT LEAST A FUCKING WEEK NOW.
They are also working. They are performing skilled, useful labor that actively benefits other people. A landlord is not. Working a side job unrelated to landlording does not suddenly make landlording a job that deserves pay.
Here FaeDrifter is again saying this shit.
A HUGE PORTION OF HEXBEAR IS TRANS. OVER HALF THE MODS ARE TRANS. THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE FOR THREE YEARS PRIOR TO FEDERATION. FAE, PEOPLE HAVE POINTED THIS OUT TO YOU BEFORE. PROBABLY MULTIPLE TIMES NOW.
See @HornyOnMain@lemmy.ml in this very thread:

We've never "pretended to support lgbt", why would we? What would be the point of a load of alt right channers roleplaying as queer communists for years on an incredibly niche social media in the hope that eventually redditors would come to the site? And even supposing we did, and we were all just alt right types, if we'd spent years doing reading groups of queer theory together and kicking out transphobes and creating the most queer friendly space on lemmy just as an incredibly long extended bit then would the supposed communists we're impersonating even take issue with that?
Like just use some critical thinking, at this point almost half of the sites users are trans and most of the rest are queer, most new users cite our radical opposition to queerphobia as their reason for joining, what evidence is there that we lie about being queer friendly? Like just check out !traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns@hexbear.net or !anti_cishet_aktion@hexbear.net or !transenby_liberation@hexbear.net and tell me in good faith that all these people have been lying for years about being queer
Here are the instances I'm aware of. There might be more, I just saw these posts ambiently while browsing hexbear. And I also don't know if the ones mentioned on hexbear are the sum of all chaser experiences users have had.

Your boss works one regular day a week and covers the occasional shift for a sick employee, but the rest of his income comes from the labor of his tenants and employees. I'm sure he's a nice guy. I've had nice bosses and landlords. But there's a pretty unequal exchange of labor here. With surgeons and most other high-paid workers, the high wage pays for student loans and years of unpaid student labor.
Your mother's tenants paid for your undergrad, and their kids probably took out student loans.
excuses what, going on a link aggregation site and posting an article that you find relevant to your perspective on the world?
Russia started the war in the first place because — whether you think the fear is reasonable or not — Russia has loudly proclaimed for decades that they view NATO encirclement as an existential threat, and Ukraine joining NATO would massively expand NATO presence on the Russian border, leaving basically only Belarus as a buffer. And if Ukraine took Crimea with them while joining NATO, Russia would lose access to their only deep warm-water port on the black sea, Sevastapol, a port that is economically significant to them.

mass death
and Saddam had WMDs.
Google Adrien Zenz.
I've written enough long comments to you, I'm not writing another one.
making you concede that the Soviet Union killed queer folk
No, I didn't. We both know exactly what I said and what you said.
If you show me where you get the information that the USSR executed people for being gay, I will concede, it's no skin off my back to recognize bad things the USSR did. But the only source you ever sent me was a wikipedia article that as far as I can tell does not mention executing gay people anywhere in it.
why do you keep arguing in favor of them?
what I argue in favor of is their massive effort to alleviate the suffering of the poor and end their exploitation by capitalists. In the span of a generation the USSR went from a feudal society to putting human beings in space, and they did it without colonizing the third world to fund it. This is what I support. The bad things the USSR did, I do not support.
it's not the Ukrainian people who decide, it's the Ukrainian government that decides, and America basically decides what they decide
the "quickest way to save the most amount of lives" is peace talks. Both armies are locked in a stalemate and the war is going nowhere.
op has an agenda as to why they are linking this specific article
everyone has a fucking perspective, that's a normal human behavior. do you expect people to just randomly select articles to post?
the posts were often some variant of "John Brown did nothing wrong," so, actual slave owners

they just disagree about the definition/whether it counts
this is half the problem though, the constantly shifting, vague rhetoric about what China is actually doing. Is it forced detainment and reeducation, or are they murdering millions of people and harvesting their organs? As long as everyone in a thread agrees the term "genocide" applies no one seems to give a shit what the details are. And then it's that much easier to just vaguely dismiss communists as being equivalent to nazi holocaust deniers.
not only is the shorts UI shitty but the shorts themselves are often shitty imo, or at least the "scroll through shorts one at a time" linear format means you see a lot more videos you wouldn't click on intentionally.

Kinda like what you did when I pointed out that the Soviet Union systematically killed queer-folk!
What the article does say is plenty fucked up already. For my general feelings see the original comment thread.
Can't wait to see you ignore these comments or handwave them.

, "Tankies are genocide deniers" is one of the central arguments in the discussion to defederate. There are going to be better responses to it elsewhere than whatever shit I write down here.
What's happening in Xinjiang is fucked up, but I'll point out that even the UN concedes there is no mass death or organ harvesting happening, and even the US State Department found "insufficient evidence," which means at least some of the claims people read are spurious. Muslim governments also generally do not recognize a genocide there — although the usual online response to that is "Muslim countries can't criticize China because China is too important to their economies" and there might be some truth to that, but then I imagine the US and Europe are also pretty important to their economies.
I also think it's weird that the AP article and the AP articles it cites consist mostly of quotes from anonymous sources with no pictures or evidence. Reminds me of RFA. It might be true, and my overall impression of LGBTQ rights in China is not great, but still, it's weird. After seeing some stories get debunked as complete bullshit, like the North Korean haircut story RFA put out, I tend to be a little skeptical of unsourced claims about China or North Korea.

: that one's wild, literally the first "maybe Pol Pot had a point" take I have ever seen. I know hexbears would tear it to shreds, but I'm curious how most lemmygrad users would react. There's no context in the screenshot, no upvote count or lemmygrad replies to it. The default communist take is to shit on Pol Pot and praise Vietnam for deposing him.

: too many bullets on too many topics for me to want to weigh in, I don't want to get dragged into a long thing and I've been commenting way too much already, but this is just them saying tanky things as abrasively as possible with no nuance, to show how they won't be banned for it there. There's nuance and context missing.

: them misspelling Uyghurs like that feels weird and racist to me, even if the target of mockery is not Uyghurs but internet commenters.
That said, I searched for the comment on lemmygrad and I think the reply to it is worth sharing
My early childhood was spent listening to all the “reasonable, smart grownups” turn into wretched war hogs who would snarl that we need to glass the entire middle east, and now nobody talks about the genocidal invasions we carried out after that, everybody pretends they didnt cheer it on. And now that its politically convenient, now that one lone Christian fundamentalist psycho [they're referring to Adrien Zenz] can make shit up and have the entire state apparatus repeat it, now they’re pretending to care about muslim people, because it gives them a reason to snarl that we should glass China. These bloodthirsty freaks have no real values other than the voyueristic thrill of watching our war machine grind people to paste on their screens. Ask them what their “solution” would be for this “problem” and watch the Hitler particles start to glow as they suggest a coup, an invasion, bombings. Yet they’re the ones who think they have any footing to lecture communists about humane treatment. As far as I know they’re still forcibly sterilizing women in our many ICE concentration camps.
Whether you agree with any of that or not, I think it's useful to see where they're coming from

: this also seems kinda weird and racist, but i've never seen the word "hanjiang" before and idk if the wikipedia article gives all the context for what it might mean today.

I've spoken to you and I don't think your intent with the winnie the pooh picture is to be racist — although tbh I still think the "portraying a chinese man as a yellow bear" thing kinda rides the line a bit and even if you're not racist it might appeal to racists — but I also don't think lemmygrad users are racists or fascists either. I think it seems more like a vicious cycle of spite and defensiveness where everyone is calling everyone racist.

I've also seen you be pretty antagonistic, and you have an entire comm called MeanwhileOnGrad which is dedicated to mocking lemmygrad users, and this kinda makes me doubt that you were all that diplomatic
"support for Russia" — opposition to NATO is not support for Russia. This isn't a fucking football game.
"support for Trump" — The other day I sent you a huge thread where they all fucking hate Trump and agree he is an odious fascist.
Hexbear does not support Trump. The consensus view on hexbear is that Trump is more dangerous domestically, but Biden is more dangerous internationally, and they are both monstrous people who are terrible for the planet. Many hexbears voted for biden as harm reduction but it barely felt like harm reduction, and when you look at the whole planet, maybe it wasn't. Trump is a fascist but also an isolationist. Biden is not a fascist, although he does virtually nothing to combat the fascists, but he is also more likely to start wars, coups, or inflict austerity on the global south, which is something people should care about. 9 million people starve to death every fucking year and America has huge international influence to make that worse or better. America supported the fucking siege in Yemen. America destroyed Libya — and that was the fucking Obama administration. I saw a study that tallied it all up and concluded that America has caused the deaths of 4.5 million people in the middle east since 9/11. And for that matter, Biden's not great domestically either! There's been virtually no pushback from the Biden administration against any of the fascist bullshit happening in this country. Florida legalized kidnapping children for forced conversion therapy and Biden won't even say the word trans.
