  • I have 8TB Seagates Exos and they are quite noisy; mine sit in my desktop (don't have a dedicated NAS) which is sitting on a wooden desk, which ampifies the noise. if I suspend the desktop, the noise goes down considerably, but I still wouldn't call them quiet

  • Good to know, I guess I'll email them to make sure, thanks!

  • thanks, that could work! I missed that section, I went straight for the ready-to-use KB!

  • I worded it poorly, I meant they only have local stores in those locations. I'm wary of ordering from the USA at the moment because of the tariff war going on, wouldn't want to get caught with my pants down

  • Thanks, very pretty but they seem to serve only North America and a few SEA locations. Appreciated nonetheless!

  • I meant that I disliked the switches on the G815 (GL, clicky) that would register the input before I could feel and hear the click.

As I added at the end, I looked at many KB from Keychron but none of them seem to have backlight that shines through the keycap. I don't know how to explain, but if you look up any image of the G815 you see what I mean

  • PC Master Race @lemmy.world

Need a new mechanical KB. Any good guides online or may I ask for help here?

  • Thanks for the reply. I see, if a game doesn't run without random crashes or bugs it will likely cost you the race when those happens... hopefully by the time I'm ready, the games are too!

  • I see, thanks! I'll have to keep that in mind when shopping for HW then. I'm lucky I'm not into VR, so that's one less issue for me

  • Sorry I'm here not to answer, but actually ask a question as I've recently-ish moved to Linux basically permanently and I plan on focusing a bit more on simracing in the future: what's the issue with Linux? Is it peripherals like steering wheel lacking drivers?

  • Same issue, I gave up. Must be some bug with my configuration since I can't find anything like it online. Oh well. Thanks though!

  • Linux Gaming @lemmy.world

F.E.A.R. 2 GOG version no mouse buttons input bug?

  • Aren't there ways to patch the whatever-it-is that is "required" by W11 that older PCs don't have so that you can bypass the check and have W11 on older machines? I feel like that's a better solution than paying for Microsoft's garbage, if one was bent on not moving to Linux

  • I fixed my issue by flashing the latest Beta BIOS for my motherboard. Took me almost a full day of troubleshooting and looking online and repeating the same steps over and over again, but then almost on a whim I decided on flashing the Beta BIOS (no mentions of virtualization in the changelog, so I didn't really have reaaons to) and now Android Studio finally simulates the Android device. Thanks for your help!

  • Oh, yeah, I got an error with the original command you wrote, so I ended up typing the correct one anyway, and that's what returned the message that I'm already part of that group.

So, just to make it clear, sudo adduser "

    <myusername>

" kvm was the command I ended up using and that told me I'm already part of the group (I've been trying basically all solutions I could find online and I think one suggestion was to add myself to the group, so I may have already issued that command earlier today and I did restart several times between then and now)

  • I get the same exact error via Flatpak and "the user ... is already a member of kvm", unfortunately.

    Thanks anyway!

  • Thanks a lot, appreciated. I think I'll try Flatpak Android Studio first, and move on to the suggestion of adding myself to the KVM group in case Flatpak install doesn't fix the issue. Thanks again!

  • Thanks for the reply and the testing. It's not via Flatpak (I figured it would be best not to, since Flatpak Gnome Boxes could not create a VM because of KVM issues, while Boxes installed via sudo apt install gnome-boxes gave me no error), but a simple tar extracted in desktop.

Since AMD Virtualization is Enabled in BIOS (although I can't toggle it) and Gnome Boxes can create a VM when installed via terminal, I don't think it's a BIOS or CPU problem (otherwise no version of Boxes would allow me to run a VM, but I did launch Arch btw from inside Boxes).

    Am I wrong?

    Thanks!

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

Noob at Linux: how to use Android Studio virtual device?

  • Apparently PoP! doesn't support Secure Boot. No idea why the system still runs and works apart from loading nVidia drivers though

  • Issue found: I disabled secure boot from BIOS and now I can change resolution and refresh rate. Thanks for the help!

Upgraded the CPU and now have GPU problems... any help?

How would I use a DS4 (wired) on Linux to play old games on RetroArch?

Is there anything specific to do to make Mod Organizer work properly via Lutris?

    datahoarder @lemmy.ml

Bought a couple of Exos 7E10 8TB drives, warranty status says "initially sold as part of a larger system, contact seller". It means I can't take advantage of their five years warranty, doesn't it?

NAS build, what's wrong with it?
