  • all Canadians to share personal information with adult websites?

Or even worse, escrow that verification to banks and or the government itself, who'd know which porn websites you're accessing.

  • You still need to actively moderate the instance no matter what, but having registration applications makes it easier to weed out most of the bad stuff. It also stops a cross-instance spammers who makes multiple accounts with the same name from posting until they get approved (which I check when the application form is somewhat generic).

  • Preferably, this allow users to only see posts in languages they want to see (which is why it's often recommended to keep "Undetermined" enabled for the language, as it's not "mandatory" to label posts at the moment.)

  • They tipped the balance of power and made themselves irrelevant. Bunch of idjits.

  • Please label links to french articles with the "french" language next time.

EDIT: Those who downvoted, any explanation as to why?

  • I convert articles I want to retain as markdown (no images whenever possible), at least it's easy to store, archive and search.

  • Dirty, irresponsible and shameful. Those who did this should never work in politics ever again.

  • That falls upon the Instance Rule #2: Be Civil, which applies to this entire instance

  • Please, they'll be owned to epic proportions.

  • You can go at https://tess.lemmy.ca/c/actual_discussion@lemmy.ca/settings/moderation then manually enter a user.

  • Who are the puppet masters, Elon? Some shadowy cabal of oligarchs with even more money than you? Are they in the room with us right now?

I'm sure they pay those protesters quite well 🙄

  • If that doesn't work then you can use their playbook, saying that you're complying but you're doing absolutely nothing of the sort, like the deportation court orders they willfully ignore yet say they're complying.

  • Journalism is all about informing the public with stuff they need to know, not necessarily what they want to hear.

CTV failed the Canadians on that one.

  • Self-hosting isn't only just about owning the metal, but it's also the freedom to configure things the way you want, and to be sovereign of your data.
