I still vote for NDP in my riding even though it's a Liberal stronghold. Not voting would amount to giving up, and we can't just give up no matter the odds.
My vote tells the NDP and their candidate that there are people out there caring for their platform.
If they make you feel happy, don't listen to them. You may even get good enough to a point where you could make a decent living out of it, if not then you still learned something that could end up being useful when combined with something else.
Plastic packaging has its use so it won't completely go away, but there is plenty of effort to be made to eliminate single-use plastic.
I wish more stores would sell product in bulk that allow using your own reusable containers. Once you get used to it, it's not a lot of trouble to carry those with you while shopping, and it really makes a difference in the amount of stuff you put in the recycle bin and garbage can each week.
You still need to actively moderate the instance no matter what, but having registration applications makes it easier to weed out most of the bad stuff. It also stops a cross-instance spammers who makes multiple accounts with the same name from posting until they get approved (which I check when the application form is somewhat generic).
