  • Cheddar, swiss, goat and parm tend to be very low lactose based on how they are made too.

Likely not low enough for someone with a bad allergy, but mostly fine for run of the mill lactose intolerance.

  • Agreed. The Obama admin fucked that up by trying to "extend an olive branch" when the gop was slashing at them with knives.

They knew the knives were out, but thought they could turn the other cheek. The sad part is that some of these ancient fucks still think this works. They have nostalgia for the "good ol days" when social media was called "Friendster," smart phones barely existed, and scandal was something that mattered. That time doesnt exist anymore.

Its knives out now, and anyone who doesn't have a shiv in hand is gonna be dead soon, one way or another.

  • Except that is literally what happened. Kennedy died while they were negotiating the bill with the GOP (that was fucking stupid and pointless. They got zero GOP votes). Massachusetts has a special election and barely elects Scott brown(R) to fill the seat for 2 years, the first time in 50+ years the state had a GOP senator (Of course, 2 years later, they vote him out. They had a GOP senator just long enough to break the Dems super majority and kill single payer. Thanks massholes.)

So who does that leave as the deciding vote? The "Independent" Joe Lieberman of connecticut, who was heavily funded by insurance companies HQ'd in his state, and refused to vote for the bill with single payer attached.

So Obama, being the poster boy of "compromise can save us"(also fucking stupid), went ahead as is and pulled it out.

That's the actual history. Dems fucked up by trying to find middle ground with the GOP, back when social media didn't have everyone in a vise and you could still lie yourself that that was possible.

  • These systems disable right before a crash because the national traffic safety org in the US requires manufacturers to report if these systems were engaged during an accident.

It is not for safety or because of a malfunction, it's for marketing. Car companies dont want the features that they sell for 3-8k coming up all the time in crash statistics.

Tesla is the biggest offender here, likely due to vehicles sold, but also due to their camera only system and their aggressively false "full self driving" and "autopilot" marketing that far over promises.

  • That's a pretty good methodology. Threads are still distinct, but all on the same page at least. Hopefully lemmy can implement something similair.

I would reduce the distinctiveness of the threads, personally. Lemmy/reddit/etc commonly have separate subthreads on the topic same page, so its not like it needs to be a prominent feature that each subthread is from a different comm. Note it maybe, but less prominent seems better.

  • Okay, so the issue is that you can't imagine someone doing anything that you or someone you personally know hasnt been able to do?

You realize also that the commenter could be talking about applying to both back in the 2000s or 2010s? Maybe back during a time when the process wasn't this stringent or when it was a labor market?

  • Sure. You don't think these bright and lucky people ever interview at two places at once?

Having leverage to demand a top salary from one of these orgs by having them counter a job offer from the other seems to be the exact thing a bright and lucky person would do.

I guess you don't think anyone on lemmy, a platform that leans heavily towards tech like early reddit did, could be bright and lucky?

  • Darts and coin flips have been shown to consistently beat human investment advisors, so sure.

Im betting those same darts and coins will also beat the AI advisors too though.

  • Most veterans don't do 20, especially now. Looks like only 17% do. The military is terrible and pays like dick. Even the lifetime pension cant compete with leaving at 4 and then socking away just the difference in pay for 16 years.

Most of us do our initial term and leave. Lots and lots and lots of us, at about a 45% ratio based on the last polling i looked at, are liberals or leftists.

Veterans are not a unified, conservative voting block. The majority vote for this garage, but an almost equal sized minority do not.
