You can scroll right but not left with the track pad
The delete key doesn't do anything in the finder
There was no window snapping until literally a few months ago
The terminal uses cmd+c instead of cmd+shift+c (really should be ctrl but okay)
The dock sucks when using multiple windows per app
Every app relies on an antiquated menu bar at the top which is straight out of 90s UI
The Fn key is where the ctrl key should be and the alt key is where the command key should be (hardware, can't rebind without addon tho)
You can't control audio levels on external displays (because Apple)
Software does not support multiple displays per port and instead can only have one display per port, meaning in order to have two displays you need one cable for hdmi and one cable for USB-C, can't have two of each.
The mouse acceleration curve is a troll for anyone not using the trackpad, and cannot be adjusted aside from being turned off.
There's a ton more but these were just off the top of my head.
EDIT:
Because multiple people mentioned this, I have a big issue with the command/meta key shortcuts because of Apple's braindead placement of their keys on the keyboard, so its a combined hardware software issue.
I otherwise wouldn't mind having to use command except my pinky has to wrap around to hit alt or I have to shift my entire hand to hit command because using a standard keyboard layout like literally every single other keyboard in existence is too much to implement.
Yeah no it does suck it made me think the Linux experience was at least 3x worse before I tried another distro.
And not just a DE thing, every part of the distro feels like it was slapped on without actually thinking of the consequences.
netplan
apt
default systemd dependencies
ubuntu GNOME
snap
ubuntu pro
cloudinit conf
You can find forums and docs from as old as Fedora 11 that's still relevant yet Ubuntu utterly fails to keep consistency across a single version update because they changed something that's only mentioned in the changelog.
Every downstream of Ubuntu is essentially focused on removing all the BS the upstream has so you can use your computer without something breaking like it's Arch an overused meme about Arch.
There is no right answer to the correct distro, only a wrong answer, and that is Ubuntu because practically anything else including its downstreams like LM are better for you as a user.
Tbh it doesn't really seem like a change since all of the world communities have been on seem to follow this notion anyway.
Even though I see a lot of dissenting voices, they don't get removed or banned.
Especially in c/Politics which has a very high amount of senseless content lol. Even if you roll in as a tankie or a party shill, you're free to engage.
"Yeah we need to figure out how to split a foreign nation up before they become a threat to our expansion. Can't have sovereignty on our ever expanding borders. Let's assassinate the HTS leadership so we can throw Syria back into anarchy."
Which includes full send genocide and ignoring constituents who opposed this, including within his own administration.
They only switched to Kamala for the PACs that refused to give lobbying funds because even they knew Biden would easily lose.
Of course PAC money is no match for actual votes, so after Kamala got her campaign paycheck and told the uncommitted movement to get bent, she inevitably lost.
Yes even in the flawed democracy of the USA, constituents ultimately decide who wins. They didn't even bother lying or pandering to voting blocs for support. They straight up banned them from the main DNC rally and refused to meet their demands.
This is such a no brainer. Trump tries his best not to alienate his voter base which is why his policy is hot trash garbage all over the place, but he actually did the bargain basement job of a politician which is to promise changes for your vote, regardless of whether or not he actually fulfills them.
Biden and Kamala were both content in dropping millions of democratic voter demands and willingly losing to Trump to defend a POS ethnostate across the Atlantic.
Fair enough, edited lol
