  • Wtf are you talking about? Who said anything about not wanting or trying to change it? But voting third party will do nothing but fuck yourself and the party you'd rather have in power. No one with less than a 7-digit bank account wants to vote for one of two parties. We do what we must today for a chance to do what we want tomorrow. To do otherwise is either disingenuous, uninformed, selfish.

The US almost dropped the electoral college in the last decade. Back at that time we had a moderately functioning govt, higher taxes on the rich, and less money in politics.

That's why I say it won't change now. It's even more impossible than the last time we failed to make it happen.

  • The primaries are just a smoke screen. You want to get rid of all the shitty parts of the US voting system? Get rid of the Electoral College. Get rid of the First-Past-the-Post voting system we have been shackled to and all the issues disappear.

CGP Gray did a great series of videos in YouTube like a decade ago about our voting system, alternatives, and how many issues are created from just the Electoral College alone. Unfortunately, those elected stand to lose the most if the process changed so it never will.

  • Yeah I'm so tired of seeing this, "both sides," bullshit. One party is openly flirting with fascism, the other is a turd sandwich. It really is a shame, and quite frankly alarming, so many don't understand what is happening and what is at stake. Even if you hate them, vote for the party that will at least give you the opportunity to vote in future elections.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

There are so many that don't know the horrors of that war and the brutality of the Nazis. We are doomed if they continue this ignorant rhetoric.

  • Tell me you don't know how FPtP voting systems work by not telling me you don't know how FPtP voting works. Please read up on it and the "spoiler effect."

Any vote for a third party is a vote against your preferred candidate. It happens with any first-past-the-post voting and two parties is the eventual end result. Eventually multiple parties get eliminated by voters who don't want their vote to go to waste.

  • It's even worse with boomers, too. The most entitled generation to plunder this planet. They'll die out right as the consequences for their greed starts to affect us all.

  • As long as it can't blink, cause that was the first disappointment I'm both the book and movie. Snakes don't have eyelids.

  • Done and done!

  • I had plans to do something similar this holiday season for the first time. Normally I just donate to my local jail bond fund.

  • That's why they haven't stopped saying it about 2020. Repeat a lie enough and it becomes true...

  • They already set the stage to ignore the election results next year. Look at how many STILL think the 2020 election results were stolen. They're either enacting laws to overturn the future results they didn't like or commandeer the offices that handle elections to ignore them.

This time next year will be a very dangerous time for the United States. Even if every sane Republican voter, who recognizes the dangers proposed, votes for a Democrat, it may not even matter. I'm not looking forward to it...

  • Conservative or not, those of us who served, and didn't just sit behind a desk, know the oath we took. I think you would be surprised how many service members hold that shit in higher regard than a politician's butthurt response to election results.

  • Nailed it. You get it.

We all had our own reasons for joining and being "thanked" feels like survivor's guilt when you know so many didn't make it home. No matter what you did, what you saw, or why you joined, a vet left part of themselves in that place...body and/or mind.

  • And you know they probably paid those taxes cause a capitalist wouldn't be caught dead thanking a veteran outside of making them money, sadly.

  • Well if you're not one, why would you tell someone that you are a young veteran? They can probably tell unless you age backwards like Benjamin Button.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

For what it's worth, I'm a 39-year-old veteran and also dislike being thanked for my service. I just don't know how to respond to it. I feel like, "you're welcome" or, "no problem" is not appropriate. I also don't know how to respond to most complements.

  • And they're already vowing/trying to ignore the votes, just like they did in Florida and Utah.

  • Username totally checks out. Definitely not AI or a bot.

  • The only place they may see ratings from more than like 6 people!

  • We all need to know, who wore the heels better and who was the tallest? Also, bonus points for incoherent answers to arm only interpretive dancing!
