  • Sanctions had failed? Russia is stronger? Holy crap! Did you drink the cool aidand swallow the bottle....

No. Russia is not well off and the sanctions are working. You can just imagine how much Putin had to bend over for Winnie the Pooh to get access to the parts and weapons tech he so desperately needed. China is no one's friend but their own and Putin is no match for Xi.

The only thing that will save Putin is when his asset is back in the white house after the election.

Ps. Next thing you're going to say is that the frankentanks Russia has thrown out on the battlefield is yet another sign that the Russian economy is booming ...

  • Hello Russian troll: Ukraine is a part of Europe.

We all remember the impressive maneuver Russia did with the mile long column that was on their way to "conquer" Kiev. Holy crap. The world laughed at the Russian "efficiency" and the world will never forget.

You had one job, 2 years and over 400000 Russians later and you still haven't been able to do what you set out to do. It doesn't matter if you manage to do it in the coming 6 months: Russia is still going to be remembered by how incompetent they are.

The only thing Putin did succeed with was getting neighbors joining NATO and something EU never succeeded with: unite Europe.

But at least it is good that you agree that Russia attacked Ukraine.

  • No one is talking about attacking Russia in Russia. We're talking about defending Europe.

The Russian aggression against Ukraine is a war outside Russia... and while on the subject of history we know what happens when Russia tries to do such things in Finland and Afghanistan... or when they try to mess with USA. That is what happens with Russia when they try to mess with someone that has more than a third of Russia's population.

We can agree to disagree on whether Napoleon was one of the greatest military commanders or not.

However, I'm sure we all agree that Russia haven't managed to invade Ukraine within two years(!) even with the element of surprise (we all suspected that shit was going to go down but not exactly when) and an overwhelming amount of men and equipment.

Even Napoleon would have been able to produce a better result with resources like that....

  • As someone who’s been writing for close to ten years now, I would tend to think I would get paid at this point. Or, at least write for a site that would. I can’t begin to describe in words how frustrating and unfair it’s been to see websites that are “younger” than me become so successful that they’re able to write for their site as a full-time job in just one year.

This is a truth I've seen again and again throughout my career (started my career in IT in the 90's). Just because you're awesome at something doesn't guarantee you a fat bank account. The people who most often succeed are the ones that have at least some knowledge of a subject and some understanding of how business work.

It doesn't mean anything that you're the best at what you do if you don't know how to get the customer to sign the agreement.

  • With that strategy, there would have been no iPod and therefore no iPhone.

Hell, there would probably not even been a computer mouse since Rank Xerox would have been focusing on how to make copies of paper.

  • The only thing that zoos are great for in the internet age is to help maintaining the diversity in an endangered species gene pool.

However, when it comes to China and pandas it would be wise to think twice. The pandas are on loan from China and on multiple occasions, when fx there has been a diplomatic conflict, pandas have been requested by China to be sent back.

The main reason China send pandas abroad is not to helping the species survive but to have diplomatic aces up their sleeve.

Because of this and that animals caged up / brought to a habitat that is not natural to them is cruel/wrong, it's just better to either travel to China and go on a Panda safari or just put on a YouTube playlist of 4 hours of panda videos.

  • What in "Not that I think Intel wouldn't cheat, because they've showed what they're "capable of" time after time.." was unclear for you? Your conclusion from the above statement is that I'm probably a shill or just doesn't know IT as good as you because I don't agree with you on the spot? Really? Is that what you using your full mental capacity was able to conclude from my statement?

Let me just clear up it a little for you: The issue isn't that Intel was (is) an asshole, it's that you blurb out unsubstantiated claims and when called out on it you claim that there's a conspiracy lead by Intel, all the journalists are on it but we all should take your word for it.

We both have all the information in the world literally in our hands and still you are unable to link to facts that support your statement and that is my fault somehow?

Nice talking to you. Have an awesome weekend. I will.

  • Let me repeat myself: I'm not defending Intel in any way. I've seen a lot of shit and murky business practices going down since the beginning of the 90's when I started my career in IT, so I have no trouble believing that Intel did it again and again.

However, it's not that hard to back claims you make with facts when on the internet. Normally ou can link whatever with two clicks maximum.

Still no one seems to want to help me read up on Pentium 4 and Intel cheating.

The ICC "optimization", as far as I remember it, was related to the Xeon line of processors. If it was P4 related, please link so that I can read up on it.

[General Rant and not about you]I really don't understand why it's so hard for people to post links that back their claims. If you post a link you give people the opportunity to learn. If you don't, it's like you just want to be right and nothing else.

  • So the journalists are still covering for Intel to this day 15 years later, but the enthusiasts know the truth?

I'm still not saying you're wrong but you have to admit it's kinda strange a quick Google doesn't reveal anything?

  • I'm not going to say you're wrong but I'm surprised. It's like we lived in alternate universes.

Not that I think Intel wouldn't cheat, because they've showed what they're "capable of" time after time, but what I remember about Athlon vs P4 was that there was something about heat and wattage specified by AMD that was criticized heavily. Athlon was also not something you'd choose for overclock because of this.

I just googled a little and there didn't seem to be a trace of any controversy around P4 and tailormade compiler.

  • Remember, this is nothing but a sign that the Russian economy is booming!

There have been so many signs of the Russian economy booming the last 2-3 months it's hard to keep up....

But rest assured, I'm here to help you remember the wise words of the great and courageous leader Vladimir Putin who is guarding the insides his pala....eh...I mean part of Russia from those pesky Nazis!

  • For anyone wondering what the Hague Center of Strategic Studies is, it's a Think Tank that has been criticized for not being transparent with where it gets it's financing from. So there's often no real way to know if the research is independent.
