  • When you have to create 1.5 hours of content in a week 20 times a year, it’s not all going to be gold, but when you go up that many times, you’re eventually going have a hit.

  • Yes and no. One of the problems right now is each of the three capsule designs uses a different pressure suit, with different hookups, and each relies on a custom fitted seat liner to absorb some of the shock of landing / splashdown, so if you’re planning on landing on a different ship then you launched on, they need to send up a new seat liner & space suit.

This was half a problem even with the shuttle. You still needed a different spacesuit, but because it landed gently on a runway, it didn’t require custom seats.

  • Musk is suing under antitrust laws. I’m not sure they work that way. Antitrust laws prevent producers from consolidating and exploiting consumers. However, when it comes to advertising placements, the companies are consumers, not producers, and I don’t think a consumer advocacy group (which the World Federation of Advertisers functions as in this regard) is illegal.

I don’t know, I am not a lawyer, but it seems like Twitter is grasping at straws here.

  • In some ways I feel bad for his volleyball partner, whose only other choice would have been to walk away from the Olympics.

  • They do make electric Zambonis. It’s a newer technology, so a lot of rinks have older internal combustion models that they are unwilling or unable to replace. Zambonis weren’t cheap to begin with, being a specialized piece of equipment, and they’ve been hit by similar inflation issues as the car industry has.

  • Unfortunately, with the Starliner fiasco, his company is the only one with a usable manned space capsule right now.

  • You can clearly afford to run a business and pay your employees a living wage, rather than subjecting them to the fickle whims of the customers. Go look at most of Europe.

  • Collect call from Bob Wehadababy-Itsaboy?

  • I don’t. I’d like to see us moving away from tipping culture in general, and this would make it harder.

  • As a constituent, it’s so relaxing that whenever I see my senator’s name in the headlines, it’s because he’s doing or saying something I agree with. I, fortunately, don’t know anyone with long COVID myself, but I’ve seen how it’s absolutely wrecked YouTube STEM educator PhysicsGirl, Dianna Cowern, and if we live in a compassionate society, we should do what we can to help these people.

  • Other reasons people left early: Trump showed up an hour late, meaning he didn’t finish until 2.5 hours after his scheduled start time. People got places to be, man, respect their time. (I guess it’s not like Trump is known to respect others in general.)

  • I don’t think it’s going to happen that way. Body cams are needed if you want to record people working in the field, such as police officers, but for people working at a fixed location, an office or factory or what have you, CCTV cameras are cheaper, less intrusive, and harder for a bad actor to screw with by “accidentally” covering their lens or forgetting to turn their unit on.

  • It’d be region locked to hell. The International Olympic Committee sells the TV rights for each country at an exorbitant price, so the broadcasters feel the need to zealously defend their investments.

  • Snoop is basically the human interest story reporter for NBC this year. He was in the stands watching the women’s gymnastics qualifiers with one of the team member’s family on Sunday.

  • Don’t forget the dog in a crate strapped to Mitt Romney’s car roof a few years ago.

  • NBC didn’t even broadcast this part of the ceremonies, people who are upset about this are looking to get upset.

  • All we Americans get is the logo in the Special Star Road.

  • Permanently Deleted

  • This didn’t even make the US broadcast. NBC skipped a lot of countries from the Parade of Nations. As a country of immigrants, you’d think they’d show them all.

  • Man is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He doesn’t want to make this election a referendum on abortion, because as we’ve seen in ballot measures in the past two years, he can’t win that fight. However, his base won’t accept anything but a hardline stance. Must suck to be him, couldn’t happen to a worse person.

  • Detected by equipment on the International Space Station. There is no antimatter on the station itself.
