What world do you live in where you don't understand that the US has many enemies?

Look at Bill Gates. He's a complete asshole and was widely hated until he stepped down from Microsoft. But, spend just a small fraction of his fortune on charity, much of it self-serving, and he's now he's widely loved.

If I randomly obtained a billion dollars, let alone hundreds of billions, I'd spend the rest of my life riding a warm-and-fuzzy high. Helping people feels good!

The thing is, you don't become a billionaire if you have empathy. If you're a normal kind of person who likes helping other people, you start giving away your money long before you hit $1B.

Even better: Starlink performed just fine, but he kept getting killed by a tutorial boss and getting bullied so he rage quit and blamed it on Starlink.

He'd know what it would do to his hair, he'd never risk that.

What country would want him shot? He's destroying the US more effectively than any enemy could ever hope to do.

Don't try to time the market. Buy on a regular basis when you can afford it. And don't assume the market is always going to go up just because it used to do that when sane people were in charge.

No, only in Quebec. There's a bit of French spoken in Ontario (especially on the border with Quebec), and maybe 30% of the population in New Brunswick, but in other provinces it's not even the second most spoken language.

I don't think it's at all likely. Trump knows he's hated, and he isn't about to go and do a parade in a convertible. More importantly, the secret service knows he's hated and know they screwed up huge in letting someone take a shot at him, so they've dialed security up to 11.

Reagan and JFK were shot at a time when they had extremely high approval ratings. It was probably harder for the secret service to stay focused and for everyone to take threats seriously when that was the case.

This isn't a Hollywood movie where a billionaire can go on the dark web and hire The Jackal or something. If they were to try to place a hit, most of The Jackals out there are probably feds posing as hitmen.

But, let's say somehow a billionaire could find people willing to make the attempt. Trying to assassinate the US president is a suicide mission. If someone tries to do it as a lone gunman, they're going up against the entire secret service. They may get the attack in, but they're almost certainly not going to get away. If it's a group of attackers, the more people, the more communications, the more communications, the more opportunities for the NSA to spot them.

And, this is one time we don't have to worry about nation-states attacking the president. The US is punching itself in the dick over and over right now. If you're someone who wants the US to fail, you just have to stand by and watch. In fact, if an enemy's surveillance of the US turned up a plan to kill Trump, they'd probably warn the secret service to make sure Trump stays in power as long as possible.

From the outside, it's interesting how Mexico has gone from PRI only, to PRI and PAN flipping back and forth, to now Morena winning the presidency twice in a row.

Yes, they're immigrants, which means they're only in the US because it had been a convenient place. Maybe now's the time to move the entire operation to a new company. In the case of some companies like Google, who already have a worldwide presence, and already claim to do most of their business out of small tax havens, it's probably just a matter of having some lawyers adjust a few documents and voila, they're now based out of Malta or something.

Except when it doesn't.

I wish I could upvote this more than once.

The economic boom the US experienced in the 1950s and 1960s was the result of:

• Pro-worker economic policies enacted during the great depression that were kept in place through WWII and remained in place until they started getting killed off in the 1970s and were fully killed off in the 1980s by Reagan.
• The top tax bracket being set at 90%.
• The US being one of the only countries that didn't have its infrastructure absolutely trashed during WWII.

Even if the US went back to pro-worker, anti-oligarch policies, we're unlikely to see another golden age unless there's another world war that doesn't damage the US. When people talk about their grandfather supporting 4 kids as a plumber, that was wonderful, but it was never the norm.
