  • No. "Salty" is not a recognized coffee note in the same way that it wouldn't be for wine.

Look for medium roast Arabica beans grown at an altitude at least 1500m (in general the higher the better) . You are generally fine with Colombian beans. Invest in a good (not blade) coffee grinder (you can get decent burr grinders for about 90 bucks). Grind only what you're going to use immediately. Make sure the water is just a little off boiling. Brew in your favorite equipment (mine is French Press). Sip and enjoy. The difference between good coffee and the over roasted dreck they sell in Starbucks is night and day.

  • I run around 50 miles a week and swim 5, so if I didn't eat plenty of carbs I would just crash. However, a long time ago I decided to stop second-guessing diet vs mortality. "Eat food1, not too much, mainly plants" - is still as valid today as it was twenty years. Perhaps more so.

Along with this you need plenty of exercise. That needs to cover:

    • aerobic exercise to increase your cardio endurance,
    • VO2max (short spurts of high intensity that elevates your heart rate to near maximum and leave you breathless),
    • Strength - weights or resistance exercise to work your major muscle groups, and
    • Stability - specifically for core muscles

Don't smoke or take hard drugs, and if you drink alcohol do it in moderation.

That's it - then you can sit back and relax knowing that you are doing the most you can to be able to enjoy a healthy life. We can't always control how or even if we will arrive at old-age, but we can swing the odds heavily in our favor by the choices we make when we are young.

    1. Food - something you grandma would recognize as edible. Generally if you can't pronounce it easily it's not food.
  • I'm primarily a runner but I've been combining swimming for the last 10 years or so and it's been great. Swimming is fantastic cross training for runners. It lets you maintain cardio fitness while you give your "running" muscles a break. It teaches good breathing techniques. It works other muscle groups like upper body and core muscles which are important for stability. And most of all, for me, my partner loves to swim so it's something we can do together.

  • The next step will be to blame this on Ukraine. If Putin can convince ordinary Russians that Ukraine was behind this it kills two birds with one stone. It diverts suspicion from the Kremlin and it helps to bolster flagging public support of the "special military operation" amid the high numbers of soldiers coming home in body bags.

  • We can apply the test of "would another politician have been charged with a crime under similar circumstances". In the case of the hush money payments the answer is probably no. In the case of the other charges most certainly yes.

  • Unemployment is at the lowest rate for 30 years and wages are rising.. that's actually part of what's driving inflation. Annualized growth this year is expected to hit an astonishing 6%. In July new orders for manufacturing hit their highest level in 9 months. Construction is doing well and consumer spending is way up. Nothing points even remotely to a recession.

  • I think a bomb is more likely for a couple of reasons. Firstly the breakup occurred around the tail section .. that doesn't square with a guided missile which normally targets the nose or engines. Second a bomb is much easier to conceal than a missile. I think the smoke in the video was from the explosion itself.

  • Decisions such as these should be taken by medical professionals, not judges or politicians. Unfortunately in the US both parties are entrenched in their "we are right and they are wrong" mentally with little regard to what the actual data say.

Norway, Finland, Sweden and the UK all limit or restrict hormones and puberty blockers for children, and a growing number of European countries are considering doing the same until a thorough review of clinical data and outcomes can be made. But any mention of putting guardrails on these treatments here iin the US is branded as "transphobia", even when those recommendations are made by experts in their respective fields.

  • The airline didn't do this to try and humiliate the passenger.. they did it to make sure the plane doesn't crash. What the hell is wrong with people? I've been weighed many times for flights in small aircraft. It's absolutely normal.

  • I was taught that my job is "to make sure all my bosses surprises are pleasant ones". 15 years of working as an engineer and that never changed. Now I have my own business and that's the thing I look for employees.. someone I can leave on their own to do a job. It they have problems they can always ask me. If they screw up I expect them to tell me immediately and to have a plan of action to fix it and to prevent it happening again. And I never ever get cross if someone does come to me and say they screwed up. Far better that we tell the client about a problem than wait until the client finds the problem themselves.

Reading all these comments makes me realize how lucky I've been in my career. I've always had great bosses who defended me and backed me up.

  • This is not unique to Teslas. Any car with electric door and window locks can trap you inside if the power fails. Normally this is just inconvenient but if that vehicle is on fire or submerged it can be life threatening.

LPT always make sure you know where the manual door release is located. Also if your car drives into water immediately roll down the windowa before the power fails.
