  • Even if all the money does make into into the staff's pockets, the owner still averts financial risk by making worker pay a function of sales. An employer must have higher business risks than their staff, because otherwise the staff wouldn't need an employer anyways! This absolutely goes against the high risk - high reward scheme that is common place elsewhere. Want to earn more? Take a risky choice! Just want stable support for your life? Get employed and earn a regular wage.

  • Might this just be an issue of your distro (or version) that does not hibernate well with btrfs? I know my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS fails to wake up from hibernation on btrfs right now. Coincidentally, also on an NVME.

  • Factorio comes to mind. More of a factory builder, but I'd describe the gameplay as being a lot more about designing stuff and figuring out good solutions. If you have ever felt a slight bit of achievement after getting something to work in a programming language or some engineering discipline, this game will be like crack for you! And I do mean that literally. I spent 50hrs within a few weeks on it, loved it, couldn't stop thinking about it, felt like it was better than socializing and then realized that it took me months or years to get to the same playtime in any other game I own!

  • Looks cool! Designing my own printer has been on my practically infinite list of projects for a long time, so it's nice to see you do yours.

I recently stumbled upon a video series you might enjoy about designing 3d printed parts creatively and with the full possibilities of 3d printed geometries in mind. Careful, it has rabbithole potential!

  • I'd say no you can't do that. It is missing a neutral connector entirely and there is no way it could preserve all functionality if it were possible to configure another port as the neutral phase connector. And as a tiny size is the most important aspect of it's design, I wouldn't expect there to be an internal circuit that would allow a reconfiguration like that, even if the number of connectors were not the limit.

If you want to use one with a neutral connection, choose the appropriate product.

  • He, while we're on the topic of documentation, if people want to help the effort, where should they look for a start? I am still new to Nix but love it so far and in the distant future I could see myself writing docs. Is there a place where people organize doc writing?

  • If you want to use Zigbee or Zwave you simply need a USB dongle for that. Search for "Sonoff Zigbee Stick" if you want to see what that looks like. As you are already running Armbian it should be easy to install HomeAssistant with ZHA or zigbee2mqtt on it.

  • No no, you are understanding this right. Both do pretty much the same thing and neither is truely better or worse than the other. ZHA seems to be the more user friendly option and Zigbee2MQTT the more involved one. But then again plenty of happy users with either of those two. It just doesn't matter much. If you already have a ton of Tasmota Wifi devices that use MQTT, then using Zigbee2MQTT may be more familiar to you.
