I’d be happy that stupid, stubborn assholes aren’t successfully passing on their genes, but of course, they’re doing it in the most painful, destructive way possible. I feel sorry for the kids, and any sensible grandparents who had to watch it happen.
Cyclical but unjust. I already feel bad for the shit millennials will eventually get. They had none of the money or power to prevent anything. Yeah, “standing together” could have theoretically done something, but it would have required a degree of sustained (by which I mean decades), disciplined effort that very large groups of humans aren’t capable of. Hell, just by looking at the cost of living, anyone can see that millennials are having a hard time simply affording to survive.
I resisted the urge to make a comment about it because honestly, sometimes I’ve been guilty of it, too. Also, some articles are so full of useless, unnecessary bullshit I can’t really blame people for not wanting to read them. So I just copied, pasted, and shut up. :)
This is George Santos we’re talking about. I’ll believe this once the election is over and he hasn’t been elected as a write-in or some bullshit like that.
He’ll probably find a way to get himself appointed to something anyway.
Oh, I’m sure that long ago they learned the futility of any kind of “damage control”. An incident that would be a once-a-decade PR nightmare for any other company is just Tuesday when you’re dealing with this asshole.
Sweden doesn’t have laws that set working conditions, such as a minimum wage. Instead these rules are dictated by collective agreements, a type of contract that defines the benefits employees are entitled to, such as wages and working hours. For five years, industrial workers’ union IF Metall, which represents Tesla mechanics, has been trying to persuade the company to sign a collective agreement. When Tesla refused, the mechanics decided to strike at the end of October. Then they asked fellow Swedish unions to join them.
I read an article (probably linked to from here) about how “Luddite” isn’t the insult many people think it is. Luddites weren’t dumb, or superstitious and needlessly afraid of technology.
The historical Luddites were knowledgeable regarding technology. They weren’t anti-technology in general, they simply didn’t trust the rich and powerful to use it in a way that genuinely benefited society as a whole. Unfortunately, capitalists did what capitalists always do - they used machines to churn out inferior goods and cut worker pay. That’s why Luddites destroyed/sabotaged machines.
After learning that, I started considering Luddite a compliment.
I’ll photoshop myself into this one for free. It’ll take four hours to get it juuust right (because I suck at photo editing), but I’ll convince myself it was worth it because I saved $5.
