  • You're right and it sounds like there's a large lack of training in the first place. The fact that the schools do far more training and that the kids were left to bleed out because the cops assumed if kids were hurt they would've heard kids crying or screaming (they were silent because they were taught not to make any noise during an active shooter event), makes my blood boil.

  • I yearn to be able to vote for someone, not just against someone.

I see the primaries as the perfect place for me to vote for someone I'm passionate about. I also get to send a message to the party that I support a platform that looks different from the right-of-center candidates.

    Info about each state's primaries

  • That bit you quoted shows just how entitled and out of touch the phantom writer is. Who the fuck cares if marriage is "threatened"?

Pretty sure there's tons of people living happy lives without marriage. It's not the 1950s anymore and that doesn't need to be the ultimate goal for everyone.

  • I wasn't in Hawai'i when that happened but I knew and worked remotely with a bunch of people who were and what blew my mind was that everyone just went back to their day after that.

I mean, fucking hell. I would need a hot minute to recover from coming to terms with my imminent death and the death of everyone I knew and loved who lived on Hawai'i. I feel like that would be traumatizing af.

  • To some extent, sometimes the capitalist meat grinder of work, commuting, lack of time for self-care, parenting expectations, mental health struggles, etc. etc. means people have exactly zero energy left to leave the house after getting home (esp. if there's no one to stay home with the kids so it means herding tired kids into the car), let alone cooking something up if there wasn't a recent grocery order and all the easy stuff has been eaten.

Jesus, I feel exhausted just typing out the hypothetical.

  • This happens so much. Look at GOP policy. Religiosity, corporate dick-sucking, or spite, often overrides logical, cost-effective choices (well, at least the cost-effective choices for the American people. I'm sure their individual pockets are fine.).

Examples: subsidizing abortion vs. supporting another child in poverty, UBI vs. the admin and labor costs of running individual benefit programs, etc.
