  • Same actually. I got some nice RGB customization, it was comfy, had a right handed thumb rest, and the price was right. Only thing it didn't have like the Basilisk was BT functionality, which in my use case wasn't a deal breaker. Software wasn't bloated either.

  • I've been using a Redragon M690 Pro as my home daily driver, and I retired my Razer Basilisk x Hyperspeed to my office, although the latter started having issues with middle clicking. The 690 is nice so far though. I don't play any twitch shooters, more of a slow burn style, so ymmv.

  • You just had to put Chemical Zone as the first pic... Childhood horror unlocked. That music.

It was also truly novel at the time to use a secondary cartridge to enhance the first 3 games, injecting that unique echidna traversal into each one. Were there any other games that did that?

On the upside, the trailer for Mania was a real treat when it first dropped and it also got me to love Nitro Fun and Hyper Potions. I think I'll jump back into it tomorrow 😁

  • I've been on a Doom kick for a bit, although it's modified to retain some more current gen flair. Just finished Going Down Turbo with Project Brutality. Is it faithful to the OG? Not quite, but it's truly amazing how far the the engine has come despite being heavily modified in its own right.

  • Thanks, yeah I'll have to find out where we got it, but I suspect is one of those mass-produced bits that just caught on :)

Kinda reminds me of something MC Escher-ish.

  • Thank you, she was definitely a bright void for us. Quite the oxymoron though :P

  • Thank you so much. Yeah, that's a smidge of an older photo, and I can't recall where that pillow resides now, but it's definitely still around 😺

  • Thank you. Voids really are the awesomest. We do plan on adopting/rescuing another void kitty in the near future, but we don't want it to be too soon either. Still really weird not having her around.

  • My relationship with them was already in very thin ice due to repeated trust issues over the years, but what finally sealed it was my coming out to my dad and his response being "it's all because of this woke generation". Coming from someone who I thought had a very left leaning stance, therapy over the following years made me realize just how shitty and homophobic they really were. Turns out I'm probably more bi than gay (also ace), but it still stands.

  • Ditto for ETS2 / ATS. I don't play them enough. With the Road Trip update coming out soon, it'll be even better. I've been craving a solid driving sim that's not racing. A leisurely drive through the Nordic landscape would be great.

Other than that, if I have the energy and wherewithal to stand, Skyrim VR, sometimes it's nice to wander without worry.

  • It's most definitely true. The game consists of adding mods until it breaks the Gamebryo/Creation Engine, then Todd Howard climbs out of your monitor and forces you to play Starfield, day one edition. It consists only of load screens.

  • Wonderful! Adding mod after mod is fun and all, but I do yearn for the day I can say the game is "complete". Modding has still become its own game to me, and my roomies actually have told me I like that more than playing the games I mod. They... aren't wrong :P

  • Once you get into Wabbajack modding, that number will quickly increase. I'm at... checks MO2 list 814 mods. And now I'm at the ESP cap of 254, so I've gotta be really selective with mods, as they need to be ESL, and unlike Vortex, There's no easy way to mark ESPs as light without using edit scripts.

But lucky you /s, I don't have a friend group to talk with this chaos to... Discord chats ever so often tho.

  • We have this card game called Ducking High which is basically a bunch of stoner questions and philosophical inquiries and get your mind all goofy. It's honestly even good for non-high activities, lots of good icebreaker topics.

  • You aren't wrong about the SP getting boring at times. I'll usually find myself kitted out after a week in game and bored and then asking "what next?", and then I'll either create a new character in that same world but on the other side of the map, and see how far they can get. Still waiting for mods like RV Interiors to be released, as they are holding out until a proper stable beta of B42 is released... so that could be some time. Granted I've also been using Week One as a baseline mod for PZ, as it revitalizes the baseline start to be more in line with "how does this apocalypse truly go down?". Is it perfect, far from it, but it adds just enough plausibility to make you feel immersed even further. As for MP, I'm not a fan at all. I tend to play most all games SP, as I'm a very patient gamer and usually jump onto the MP bandwagon too late to feel included.

  • I will say that CDDA has piqued my interest, but I'm not a huge fan of turn based anything, although weirdly I will get into some of them. May have to give this a shot myself... once I have time.

I think I've been spoiled by the massive modding community with PZ, as I feel there's always something that's added that feel right within the game world. Sure, there are plenty of non-lore friendly mods, but stuff like adding all the classic consoles into the loot pile, or real world foods keep the immersion up quite well.

  • Always gonna recommend Project Zomboid. Yeah it may look like the Sims (which oddly is where TIS got their art influence from), but it's pretty darn unforgiving. Hell, I lost my last character without realizing how, chalking it up to some strange drug interaction (aka don't drink and take sleeping pills, kids). Resource management, while not a direct focal point for PZ, is still important as you are watching every aspect of your character's health and wellbeing.

The latest beta build 42 has incorporated some new mechanics and a nicer lighting system so things feel proper spooky when slinking around in the darkness. And don't even get me started on the modding community. Infinite possibilities and a constant influx of new content, some which gets so popular it's adding into the base gameplay. Look up Week One if you want more than just a zed simulator.

I also second Stardew if you are also looking to scratch that cozy gaming itch.
