  • My last job at a call center was staffed in such a way that they were basically on the phone continuously for their entire shift with no downtime between calls. This meant anytime something happened to increase call volume all the metrics the bean counters cared about went to shit. Their solution was to tighten the screws and demand lower handle times and better adherence from their already burnt out staff and cracking down on anyone who wasn't logged in when they were supposed to be. Meanwhile the supervisors were leaving to go run errands and shit whenever they felt like it. Turnover quickly got ridiculous.

  • Me when I had to deny pto requests because the person who did our scheduling was a moron : " I can't schedule your PTO for that but if you call out its only one point against your attendance even if you miss multiple days.... soo do with at information what you will"

  • she draped her damaged car with a banner proclaiming “Tesla brake failure” in front of the Tesla dealership in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, some 200 km (124 miles) from her home. She sat on the Tesla’s roof and blared her protest through a bullhorn: “Tesla Model 3 brakes failed,” she said. “A family of four almost died.” The next month, she parked her damaged car outside an auto show in Zhengzhou

All those things are perfectly reasonable if there actually was a brake failure. That car almost killed her family. If Tesla doesn't want to be called out don't put dangerous vehicles on the road.

  • He looked over the shoulder of one of the script kiddies he hired and saw 2 lines with the same SSN, freaked out, remembered some database words he picked up somewhere and hopped on twitter.

  • Edit: I mean so the market does exist yes, but it seems to be filled by things like MP4 players (running Android) and old iPods with flash mods

Only because there isn't a phone to offer the required functionality. (Unless you keep your last good option as long as possible like I'm doing, which has it's own drawbacks). As I said before these features already existed and they removed them from new models for anti-consumer reasons. Not because there isn't a market. It's not like new phones got cheaper or had new features added when they took the other stuff out. They did it to sell more wireless headphones, make it harder to replace work batteries, and lock us all into their streaming and cloud services. The market isn't served because they don't want to serve it. They want the market to serve them.

  • Because I've seen what people do with their vehicles. I bought my car new 13 years ago and I've been able to make sure it's been properly maintained the entire time and no one else's crud is all over the interior. I intend to keep it until it falls apart. Prior to that I had a truck I bought used and got maybe 5 years out of it before the transmission died with only medium mileage. I had maintained it but who knows what the person before me did with it.

That said if nothing changes with all this touchscreen infotainment shit I don't know what I'll do. I've hated every new vehicle I've been in the last few years.

  • Truth of it all is that most people want tinner phones and/or wireless earbuds/headsets and the people who do not are for a big part audiophiles who want better audio quality than a phone is going to offer. So there is only a relatively small section of users who prefer the audio jack.

I think the real truth is most people just take whatever the phone corporations shovel down their throats without thinking too much about it as long as they have the newest model. Phones have been thin enough for years now. They've hit the point where they can't make the camera as thin as the rest of the phone so it sticks out and won't sit flat. It's ridiculous. It's not like they've replaced the features we lost with new better technology anyway. There's no reason customer focused reason to remove those features. They did it to sell more shit and make their devices less repairable. Expecting people to carry two or more devices when one could do everything is asinine. Also my phone has a Hi-fi DAC and gives fantastic audio quality through the headphone jack.
