Really. You think I'm happy about this? That the Both Sides crowd can't understand basic mathematics and spoiler effect, or zero-sum logic?

As far as I'm concerned I'm far more distraught and less willing to throw away civilian lives in Gaza and Ukraine than the likes of you. There's a lot of naivety going around thinking that things can't possibly get worse in both of these places for civilians.

Let's see how that logic plays out.

Unfortunately Hitler's Putsch was far more clear cut and our court systems already largely ruined by the time Garland assumed his office in 2021. Hitler never had the power to corrupt the courts preceding his failed coup. I also don't know if we can compare 1:1 our criminal justice system to 1920s Germany.

Binary choice.

Either Trump or Harris would win.

Harris better on literally every issue from climate change and LGBTQ+ rights and Women's rights, to Ukraine and yes even marginally Gaza, itself.

We had a choice to help one or the other, and we chose the guy who is worse on every one of these issues. The GOP and Putin thank you for your service.

At the end of the day, these uncommitted voters contributed to the problem because they lacked the capacity to think strategically in their voting and lacking comprehension of the FPTP voting system we have. They seem to lack the fundamental understanding that there was a competing electoral group that Harris needed to obtain, like the large Jewish community in these key battleground states like Pennsylvania. Damned if she did; damned if she didn't.

Golly, it's almost like there's a reason why Musk dumped $75 million dollars in attack ads with directly opposite messages, targeting both Muslim and Jewish communities in Pennsylvania at the same time? Were you aware of this? Evidently not.

So while Harris pushed for more aid into Gaza, sought a two-state solution, sought a permanent ceasefire, tell me... What did Trump promise? Oh yeah... "Finish the job." Again, good luck.

I know this isn't popular, but because I've literally never seen a substantive counter-argument for this, I have to say that I think Merrick Garland did all that he could given the stacked courts surrounding him. Nobody could've done better. He was clearly building a case from the bottom up that is a classic example of RICO prosecution style, hence the largest criminal investigation in the FBI's history when going after those who committed January 6th. That was always going to lead to Trump. People, however are dreaming and romanticizing this belief that we could've "got" Trump within one year's time and that was never possible.

The only thing that matters is that many Americans knew what Trump was, and a large swath opted to sit out and go, "Both sides!"

We couldn't even convince the proverbial jury that was the American people of crimes in plain sight when they gave a verdict on November 5th.

lol nah man, I'm sure Palestinians will be much better off under Trump and far more amicable to protesters than Harris would've been... Totally ;)

It's more accurate to say Trump's base cult voted like a cult and will always vote for him no matter. This evidenced by the fact that Trump may or may not even break his 2020 numbers despite even population growth.

It's not just that these people voted for change as in all those millions who voted for Biden in 2020 voted for Trump; they just didn't vote for anything at all.

Voting Democrat temporarily does not make you a Democrat no differently than Liz Cheney voting for Harris or the first-time low-propensity voter who thinks "they're all the same, but since covid impacted me I'm getting rid of the current guy." People just voted against Trump more than they were voting for Biden or his policies. They just wanted him out and to try something different purely because of covid.

This time around, those people just said, "Both Sides." And sat out. Presumably because they drank the Russian Kool-Aid and live in media silos.

That said, I misread the title and paragraph not referencing Democrat, but Democratic support, so my mistake.

Why do people keep saying Democrats. These were not Democrats. They were political apathetics who were so dumb they didn't see a difference between an existential threat to America, convicted felon, and pathological liar... And a woman with a clean record.

No actual Democrat gave up voting for Harris because of the obvious reach to Republicans who saw that existential threat.

In the aftermath the number of fuckwits I saw not voting or voting against their own interests has been insane.

On another note I want absolutely nothing to do with Mehdi Hasan. I supported him for quite some time but he got tunnel vision to such a degree he ended up thinking completely irrationally and contributing to the problem. He's venturing into Jill Stein territory for me.

Social Democrat, here. Harris wasn't even my 4th pick in 2020 primaries. That said, I campaigned like crazy for her and voted for her because of the very obvious reasons you mentioned.

My wife tried to reach out to one of her cousins who self-describes as a socialist and noted how important it was for his niece and her rights. He wouldn't even respond.

I kind of fucked up today and while going on a rant of how stupid these people were I equated them to believing in Santa in front of my one kid. Fortunately she's young enough I played it off...

Instead of doubling down on our beliefs with authenticity as the Right does (I mean, many abortion referendums did pass), we repeatedly cede ground to the Overton Window.

The problem is we don't actually engage in the same degree of activism in the off-season and always let conservatives control the narrative on largely manufactured issues and half truths.
