  • As someone who never had watched cartoons of the X-Men and only knows the movies and the MCU this show lost me completely. I had after a few episodes not a clue what was happening. No backstory to get invested in, and the big reveal left me emotionless. All the dialogue was, without context I think, cringe and over the top dramatic.

I guess this is only for nostalgic fans of the 90s shows. I could imagine I would have liked it a lot more with this background.

  • Depends. I enjoy a card game or sudoku on mobile.

But for real games I use my PC. I don't understand people going crazy about the steam deck too. Who in their right mind enjoys for example Cyberpunk on a tiny screen, that's like watching Dune on your phone. What's the point?

  • If I search for something specific I now usually ask chatgpt and describe what I'm looking for. The results are often (not always) far better.

I don't want to click through 50 pages of unrelated shit anymore.

  • That name rang a bell, I was not really sure why. I just went to my bookshelf, and one of my oldest books I actually started to collect was the novelization of the movie Total Recall (the Schwarzenegger one), written by - Piers Anthony!

I had no idea that he was pretty famous, I loved that book, but never cared about the author, time to change that! Xanth series, you say? I will definitely check that out. Thanks!

  • If you are not sure how to search for a specific problem and can just describe it in a few sentences then it's definitely worth the effort.

And for the state many search engines are in today that is sometimes the better way to find stuff.

  • Isn't that this Windows imitation I sometimes hear about?

    (I have a death wish I guess)

But on a serious side: I need an easy to use Linux system next year for my parents who are not very tech savvy. Do you have a recommendation for easy use that feels like Windows? It will only be used for browsing, open office and stuff.

  • I have a bunch of retro machines, and one of them is running XP. Not long ago I enjoyed No one lives forever on it. Nothing beats the correct hardware.

Regarding fixes, Service Pack 2 is enough. And since Steam is not supporting retro machines anymore there is no reason to connect it to the internet anymore, thankfully gog let's me download the installers, all the more reason to use gog exclusively. At least for my special gaming tastes.

  • Asimov's Foundation. That got me back into reading after around twenty years. Now I read one book a month, mostly sci fi, for nine years now.

Thank you Isaac Asimov, I could not imagine a life without reading anymore.
