  • So just that I understand this correctly: I need steam to buy it, but after that it launches without steam after I download the installer? Like on gog?

If yes, holy shit, I would have never expected this from EA!! Last time I checked this company was pure scum, but this is a surprisingly nice move!

  • Gamers, be it on console or PC, are dumb. Time has shown this over and over again. Horse armour, overpriced micro transactions, golden cage launchers, games as a service, the list goes on.

There will always be people who buy overpriced stuff or don't think about what will be in ten years.

  • I once was recommended a Japanese anime, "Gate". It's about a fantasy world trying to invade our modern realm. Earth strikes back with modern weapons, the fantasy world has no chance with their dragons, Orks and magic.

This I would love to see more of, asymmetrical warfare, it's just a power fantasy, but a fun one!

  • In the 80s there was a plan to roll out fiber optic throughout the country. But media mogul Leo Kirch lobbied for normal cable connections because he wanted his cable network TV to take off. Chancellor Helmut Kohl, his buddy, of course did what he was asked to.

So that today we could have fiber nationwide, but thanks to lobbying we don't. Thanks to Helmut Kohl and Leo Kirch.

  • I got a reproduction of a painting I really liked over the years and seen many times hanging in a museum. It looks like the original, extremely high quality, hand painted, and it cost 800 €. It even got a certificate of the artist who recreated it with the techniques and materials she used. There is a market for this, but you should first check the website obviously that it's not a fake store.

But if it's not, it's legit and legal.

  • I only use Gog, and the good thing is, as you wrote, I CAN take my stuff and just leave, not that I would have any reason to at the moment.

Well, I do have other accounts like Steam and Ubisoft, but that's only about ten games in total. Stopped buying there a long time ago when I realised I can't backup my purchases and have to use their platforms to play.

I do miss out on many AAA titles, but seriously, they don't appeal to me anymore. And I can wait until they drop on gog eventually.

But I don't really see the problem in multiple accounts. If not owning is not a problem for someone why should he/she care?

  • I bought it blind on gog when it was on sale, visual novels aren't my thing usually, but it did not have the anime look so I thought I gave it a try and drop it after half an hour.

Turns out it was one of the most impressive games I played these last years. What a mindfuck!

And the ending warmed my cold heart!

So I wanted to watch a review on YouTube, and what! The! Fuck! I had no idea how different (and gruesome) this game could get! Soon it's holiday time, and it's on my top list of things to do! Let's see how I can fuck things up!

  • Oh man, I hope so!

I prefer their games over anything Bethesda/Diablo/whatever stuff.

Their games, as clunky and weird they sometimes are, have soul and passion. I'm playing Risen 2 at the moment, and I just love the world. So much too see, every corner has something to find, even if it's just a bottle of Rum.

  • After the last elections the EU should be terrified of Nazis. Every bit of surveillance they get through now means less work for the fuckers later if they are able to grasp power.

May I kindly remind everyone of the Jew registers? The Nazis came and all the paper work was already done, good for them.

The EU is such a fantastic idea, but with shit like this they shoot themselves regularly in the foot.
