How old were you when you learned that Santa Claus wasn’t real?

  • pretty early. 5 or 6. religious celebration salad + small thinking just won't let that pass through. it became a family in-joke after.

  • the ceo is paid big because his decisions affect a lot of lives.

    in this case, the killer can be any of these people the ceo has affected on some policy he let pass. the killer could even be just an enforcing arm of some one, or some group.

    on one side, you can see this reaction as just part of his "job description". even doctors know toying with people's health have grave consequences.

  • imo, the cancerous greed is unchecked capitalism.

    when the whole system is designed to gain power thru money, it's money that is needed to fight back. this is all just my two cents but, people that do not vote for increasing minimum wage policies are losing their biggest bargaining chip.

  • Depends on who's funding the investigation. If there's limited funds, people tend to move on and just accept things as they are.

    Another infamous way to go around this is to offer a scapegoat to take the blame.

  • Obligatory: "YOLO", it is true we only live once -- so make it count.

    "Big boys/girls don't cry"

    This is some archaic-level advice similar to "pull up your bootstraps" that most people may have these already ingrained as part of growing up. It is fine to cry and show others [you trust] your feelings, no matter how old you are. More importantly, the better advice is to "take care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being" and "be kind to yourself".

  • ai as in AI: aircraft auto-landing and pitch levelling. near-boundary ship navigation. train/ freight logistics. protein folding. gene mapping.

    ai as in LLM/ PISS: hmmm... downlevel legalese to collegiate-, 6th-grade-, or even street-level prose. do funny abridged shorts. imo, training-wheels to some shakespearean writing is appreciated.

    • Should "Bad People" deserve a respectful burial?

  • there's a huge debate on what "bad" means.

    but if we skip that and just single out an opinion, like for my opinion, the dead bad person isn't affecting me anymore so I just let it go.

    should the relatives of a bad person be allowed to see the corpse treated respectfully

    good question. afaik, i haven't heard of countries or governments trying to own corpses.
