  • Nice!

  • Bizarre AI photo at the top, no author byline, no link to the source of the data (if there is one), no specific report mentioned, just "the latest analysis".

This looks to me like an AI-generated article where someone either prompted it to "summarize" a real report or else it hallucinated a report based on whatever supposedly relevant internet news it's eaten recently.

Going to the site that comes up for a search for World Travel & Tourism Council and looking around on it, I don't see a report on this topic.

  • Despite everything, Márquez Duany doesn’t blame Trump.

And this is what everyone who keeps hoping magats will turn on trump once he screws them over enough needs to understand. They'll never turn on him. No matter what he does, no matter what kind of negative consequences they suffer. It will never be trump's fault in their minds. They are not capable of forming that conclusion.

IOW, we (and especially Dem. politicians) are the ones who need to face reality and accept that what we need to win here is an all-out battle for power, not a debate, not a negotiation.

  • The reason I thought it was notable when my brother told me that is because all the articles I've seen, including this one, imply that the only reason bonds aren't selling is just that people are nervous about the unstable situation and unreliability of the US to honor the debt. They don't mention a coordinated act of retaliation by a group of governments.

  • My brother told me a while back that Canada and the EU were cooperating together to not buy US bonds, in retaliation for the tariffs. Back when HitlerPig suddenly put a 90-day pause on most of the tariffs it was directly because they were freaking out about what was happening in the bond market.

Whether it's true that it's deliberate retaliation or not, it's a hell of a brilliant strategy against the Pig since higher interest rates on US bonds (basically like having your credit card's rate go up, increasing your minimum payment due) could put the US in deep deep doo doo.

  • I want a big enough mass of freak conservative boomers to die off of old age and for the republicans to finally push everyone else hard enough that this country finally fucking snaps and swings left so hard that Reagan’s grave belches black smoke for a month.

Look at Mike Johnson's face--he's not dying for a long long time. Get over the idea that evil people are all old and you just need to wait for them to die, it's not going to happen. New evil ones are born every day, they exist in every generation, they've been with us forever and will be with us forever.

  • Bullshit. He got pretty much everything he wanted, including gigantic government contracts for his businesses, while stopping all investigations into his criminal activity and negligent products. Also got to get high on swinging his dick around a lot, and still has trump offering him more favors for more money.

  • It's the addiction of power. Once someone has acquired it, they can't give it up. Only exceptional people have the strength to resist and step down. Take Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had been teetering on the line between this world and the next for years, if she had retired while Obama was president, the SCOTUS wouldn't be so out of balance now. But she just couldn't do it.

  • True, look at Pelosi's choice to succeed her, Hakeem Jeffries. I thought he seemed good at first but he's turned out to be just another hand-wringing wimp. So it's not simply a matter of being too old, it's a matter of clinging to the old ways.

edit: IOW, getting younger people in is necessary but not sufficient.

  • Point is, their big rallying cry was that people should be able make their own decision about whether to get the vaccine (or wear a mask), and now that they're in charge they're controlling what people can do, the very thing they complained about using terms like "nanny state". Some repub-controlled places are banning mask-wearing as well so expect that to go national soon.

  • A doctor's order for the vax or being >= age 65. I'm saying they'll probably require it. We'll find out.

  • And the provider giving the shots will probably make you bring paperwork stating you have whatever condition (to cover their ass), which narrows it down to those with the time and money to get it -- and I doubt insurance will be required to cover it any more, so that's another $200-300.

But that's not even the point, since if the goal is less spreading and mutations, which means the more who get the vax the better, and that means including young and healthy. [narrator: that, of course, is not the goal]

  • Good thing they've gotten rid of that "nanny state" they hate so much. 😒

  • To all the comments and replies asking Isn't this or that aspect of what he did illegal?: Yes of course, for us it would be illegal, but it doesn't matter. For oligarchs the legality of anything they do is irrelevant. They do whatever they want and get away with it. Sometimes it costs them a small fee, but they don't notice that.

  • After reading your whiny entitled posts, sounds to me like you'd be doing him a favor if you did.

  • Repubs: "Stop saying we're cutting Medicaid! We're not cutting Medicaid! So relax! We're just changing the rules so that no one will be eligible for it any more."
