  • Fascinating how you have the ability to apply logic to the maths in question but not to what has caused the empty coffers.

Can humanity afford to prosper if it lets go of the overly greedy? Absolutely, mate. We have a wonderful, rich world and the ingenuity to use the resources wisely. What we lack is good governance.

  • No surprise there. Most social programs are very productive with good returns.

It's just much more efficient to teach and reward than let it get bad and punish. Jails, for example, are super expensive. An inmate not only produces nothing, but also costs 10s of thousands of dollars. Over here, that averaged £50k a year per inmate when the average income was close to half that.

Which is why I laugh at the recent migrant boat bs where the government is spending a similar amount of money instead of putting people through skillup programs and such.

  • The development industry is basically run like a mafia in most countries.

  • I'm sure they will do it after this event. But trying to make the software so fool-proof is how you get bloated, expensive shit like Microsoft products. And now they're bloated, slow, buggy and still not fool-proof. Though to be fair, this is a shopping app and I'd expect the dumbest users so perhaps that's the only way to go.

I find the news around AI hilarious these days. Next: "

  • Excuse me, sir. I find it unacceptable to be classified as such. Please refer to my person as 50 bags of flour. Thanks.

  • Who'd guess misusing things can be harmful? Next, we chop off a finger to prove a kitchen knife can be dangerous.

  • Another win for the war on drugs.

  • Yes, bags of flour. That's a measurement I can get behind.

  • Until fines become wealth based, it will always be a poor people tax.

If cash flow is the issue, then start taking stocks.

  • Can confirm, never regret eating olives off the jar.

  • Does that extend to employer review websites like GlassDoor?

  • Holy fuck. What a low bar these voters have. And wanna bet this guy will break the no-rape pledge?

  • I just prefer cable for those two. For the keyboard cable makes no difference to me. Mice cables have come a long way and a good one is barely noticeable.

Headphones though, I'm never going back to the cord. Both Sony XM and Bose QC work great for me.

  • Might be the app I'm using. I'll see if I can drop them a message.

  • Well, there has been an exodus and I assume a lot of those who stayed can't afford electronics. I'm gonna guess all this energy has just gone unused.

It's just so weird how Bolsonara's supporters use it as an accusation that Lula is turning Brazil into Venezuela. It's mental. How can people be such dumb mofos?

  • Not a great situation but cutting ties hasn't helped either. Perhaps with some commercial incentive there can be some change. Or maybe not. Still though, the Venezuelan government won't starve without this money and at least hundreds of thousands can benefit from a utility we all take for granted.

  • Btw the spoiler tag doesn't seem to work.

I do remember that in the beginning I thought I was just some corp quasi-slave pleb that was being left for the dead (I went in quite blind). But once I found out that the universe was pretty much mine to explore (I think around the time I left the first world) I began to feel that way. It doesn't help much that the universe itself is rather empty in terms of the characters and there's essentially no depth to most npcs you meet in single player.
