  • I also was pretty hyped for Sync and had the thought that I'll leave Connect behind when it comes out but...

honestly, Connect is the best client so far. By a lot, and I have a feeling it will stay the best for a long time, especially if kuro is this active with the development. I mean, come on, the dude pushes hotfixes in hours(!) for somewhat critical bugs that get reported here. It's amazing and kinda inspiring :D

  • Altough it's more like a "gypsy curse", but there's one that translates to sth like "I wish you'll having ten rings but none fingers"

  • Retro tech. It's not too obscure, especially nowadays. I could talk long hours about how mind fucking blowing was the Amiga and then still how it went down on the drain... tho I just see on the other people that this isn't really the topic that will kickstart (heheh) the party.

I need to find more friends...

  • pillecukor. altough, we really have one kind of marshmallow here, and it's not the one you put into a bonfire or your hot chocolate

  • well, I'm in Hungary and have Digi TV subscription (it's a Romanian carrier that's in service in my country as well)

around 4 years ago when I contracted with them it was super cheap. since then it's almost 3 times more expensive. it's a usual thing here that long-time subscribers pay more and more just for fun I guess?

  • I pay for cable, even pay extra for HBOs and 24/7 porn channel, tho this latter costs me $0.0028 per month so why not (it's bad).

  • my PC has less than 2TB spread accross multiple drives, SSDs and HDDs as well. I'm running a Pi as a server, with 1TB SSD in it. Also have a 4TB backup disk, which is currently installed in my main PC, but don't really use it as an "active" storage.

but I just had a flashback to around 2000, when the whole family went to a PC shop to buy our first machine. It had a whopping 20GB HDD in it! we all was like "oh lord, this disk is HUGE! it's impossible to fill up!"

needless to say, it wasn't. sometime later my next machine had 80 gigs and I almost got dizzy on the thought how freaking much is that. spoiler alert: it wasn't that big afterall πŸ˜…

  • Ah, FAR manager.

I used it last time around... 15 years ago to apply VKP patches on my Sony Ericsson phones :P like making my K750i into a 'W750i' with W800i software, adding GFX and Acoustic patches...

  • I'm from Europe, in the embrace of the Carpathian Mountains :)

before WinRAR, people used WinZIP here in the '00s (at least Windows folks). Again, a strange choice, I know.

  • 9 out of 10 people I know use WinRAR. It's amongst the very firsr software they install at fresh start.

I myself also just changed to 7-Zip around... I don't know, a year ago?

  • UnexpectedKeyboard is amazing. Changed to it after BlackBerry keyboard.

tho there's absolutely zero dictionary and prediction, the fact it has proper modifier keys like ctrl, alt, function keys alone takes the cake, but you can literally map any character to anywhere, and access even more by swiping on the keys.

I don't know how's the developnent, haven't checked for updates for a while, because I modified it a bit for my taste.

It's kinda on my list to fork it and add autocorrect, dictionary and prediction to it, unfortunately I don't have much time :/

  • HER NAME IS RIO AND SHE DANCES ON THE SAND m-pah! m-m-pah m-pah

  • most ridiculous thing in the music industry ever. there's just NO proper use case for autotune.

so much so, there's only one song that I think utilized autotune in a somewhat OK way, and it's a flippin' track from Sims 2's Pop radio station

  • I aggree. Though, communities like this should be marked NSFW.

  • ❀️

  • The other distro I tried out was openSuSE, but idk which version. It was shipped with KDE3 or 3.5, and man, I loved it. RPMs and YaST was something to get used to, especially after Ubuntu and I was like... 15-16 yeara old, barely just into Linux land so broke the shit out of them pretty regularly. But I learned a lot.

Then KDE4 and Plasma came out and I hated every pixel of it.

  • Strangely, this update cuts down the last letter of startrek.website's instance domain name, leaving it like "startrek.websit" and making the instance and its communities unreachable.

this is the only example I've found where it does this, pretty weird.

  • I started my whole Linux experience with Ubuntu 6.10. IIRC Compiz Fusion or Beryl was the shit back then with the 3D cube effect and the windows going off in flames when you close something.

  • Just to quote a claasic:

    "Blah blah blah, Mr. Freeman"
