  • Well, no employee is going to be expected to physically lift me and every other passenger at any point, but they will have to lift all of our checked baggage, so it feels like my weight matters less than my luggage's weight.

  • Any seat that doesn't have a primary challenger is a mistake. Incumbent should have to justify their continuing role to their own party, not just an opposing party, just like a new comer has to justify why they would be better. Maybe stability is better, maybe the incumbent is doing a great job and should continue to do so, maybe new blood with perspectives are needed, maybe more drive and passion is a priority. You know who should get to decide those things? The party voters, not the establishment.

  • You have no evidence that the could or have compromised it at all. Just baseless "oh but it may be compromised some day!".

Yes, that is the point. I have no evidence, nor will I. When Russia hacks it successfully, they aren't going to put out a press release and give everyone a grace period to move off the app before they start harvesting state secrets are they? You need to act like it is already compromised becuase you don't know that it isn't or when it inevitably will be.

  • Signal encryption is already targeted by Russians and Belarusians trying to compromise it. If it's still secure, who knows for how long. Also, is Hegseth's phone itself secure, and everyone has communicating with? Probably not. That is why these kinds of communications are not meant to take place over 3rd party software and on unsecured phones.

  • Don't discount good old fashion price gouging either. Even if you could keep up with demand and keep your prices way under the tariffed foreign goods, why would you? If you are the only domestic alternative, bump your prices to just under your competitors.

  • They do pay taxes. This weird myth that immigrants somehow all live and work in the US for free is silly. They pay income tax if they work, they pay sales tax when they buy things, they pay property tax if they own a home or help someone financially who does.

  • We didn't distinguish "good" Germans from bad Germans during WWII,

    Yes, the fuck we did.

and we don't distinguish "good" Russians from bad Russians.

    Yes the fuck we do.

This is the mentality that leads to war crimes.

  • That's an unhinged stance. People that bought a car without knowing what Elon was or would become are not morally responsible for enabling him. Intent matters. Most of them, im sure, just wanted an electric vehicle... the end. They do not deserve to be punished for Musk and Trump's evils.

  • The very premise of this assumes that everyone is aware of what everyone else's job is including all of their responsibilities, that they can objectively judge how well they do their job, that they will not base their decisions based on personal or identity biases (particularly against protected classes), that they have an understanding or even basic knowledge of company budget and financials, and that they can be trusted to properly weigh the financial health of the company with the relatively value each individual's contributions and the desire for one's own personal gain.

I would argue that almost no person in an company bigger than 10 people is capable of most (if any) of these. Not that existing company structures are always great at all of these, nor are they usually incentivized to pay people their true worth, but the system you proposed would likely lead to massive issues in any company. Financial issues, personal issues, etc. Even if a company like this were to survive, you would likely see rampant turnover for women, minorities, young people, and anyone else that is likely to be under paid by the might of the majority that believes they are worth less than their white male seniors. Likewise, the "nice" guy manager that does do his job in the slightest but is fun to hang out with is more likely to get a raise than the serious managers who actually keep the company working and on profitable endeavors, which is likely to lose everyone their jobs when the company is no longer profitable. There are more problems with this, but that should be enough to see the pitfalls here.

  • He finally defeated this evil man... after he rose to being the fucking pope, led the church for 12 years, and died at a ripe 88 years old...

Idk, I feel like God didn't do much at all. But if he's striking down evil, I'd get to painting your door in sheep's blood real quick, Marge.
