Part of it is that the left isn't seen as fun. We're too serious and judgmental all the time. Many times there's good reasons for that but young people don't want to constantly hear about taxation and proper pronoun usage. Talk about legalizing LSD or something once in a while.
And yes, I understand that the right isn't fun in a way that most people would want to be but there is definitely something to be said for not gatekeeping language to an absurd degree. Let people express themselves without all the "well actually that's ableist because..." interjections. People only listen to you a finite amount. If you burn through your educational goodwill on minor stuff no one is going to listen when you warn them about important stuff like fascists taking over the government.
You basically just described my politics lol. I've been saying forever that the left needs to adopt guns as part of their platform. It's not exactly prophetic at this point to say that authoritarianism almost always comes from the right. The 2A is arguably more important for the left to take seriously. You gotta be able to defend yourself from fascism and anything else they try to pull.
The time for civilized resolution to this problem has come and gone. Billionaires decided they want to live in a "might makes right" world. Fine by me. We'll just have to show them what that looks like when the teams are split 120,000 to 1.
I agree with the sentiment but let's not forget that there are plenty of American citizens who think exactly the same way Musk does about this issue. Essentially, anything that prevents me from doing what I want is a flaw in the system.
We already know that Trump has done all of those things. There is no possible information that could be revealed about Trump that would make his cult turn on him. That much is certain.
I'm not sure I believe this bone theory of yours but it warrants further consideration imo. We should examine their bones more closely in an effort to discover this supposed defect.
My dad has been able to use some bone conduction headphones to listen to music and things like that despite his condition. Perhaps that will help you as well. I keep telling him to try to find some bone conduction hearing aids but since he only has hearing loss in one ear he seems largely content to tough it out.
I seem to recall some additional failsafe being put in place shortly after the Constitution was written. In fact I believe it was the second idea they had on how to strengthen our system of government. Unfortunately, I'm so forgetful I can't quite put a name to it.
You definitely can. It's psychotic but that's how MAGA operates. They all have their individual interpretation of what Trump means when he says things they don't like. Then when he does things they don't like they pretend they knew he was going to do it the whole time and it's actually their favorite thing about him. God damn cultists.
It's pretty fucked that we are at the point where the idea of collaboration between administrations from different parties is so foreign that it doesn't even register as a possible explanation for something like this.
To be clear, that's not meant to be a criticism of you but rather a comment on how divided we are as a nation.
I voted for Harris. The guy you're responding to is still right. If democrats had actually represented the working class for the last 30 years instead of paying lip service to the idea then we would not be in this situation. Saying that does not excuse the actions of Republicans or conservative voters. It's simply an honest accounting of Democrats failure to present a convincing counter argument to the GOP. You would think that would be easy to do and yet here we are.
I think there's quite a few brown people in America surprised by this. I'm not sure how that's possible but it is the reality of the level of political engagement we're dealing with in this country.
Nothing happened is not an accurate representation of those events. At minimum we have a historical record that all Republicans refused to convict him which means they supported his actions. Dem voters got to watch their representatives stand up for them and make the case that Trump's behavior was not acceptable. Those are both important things despite the fact that he was not removed from office. That's a big part of the information we needed to have to know how bad a 2nd Trump term is going to be.
What they're doing now is giving up without a fight. In fact, they're actively speeding things up by confirming his nominees.
I always picture some flat earth guy stumped about what is at the edge of the world and then he stumbles on the first episode of Game of Thrones.
