  • I found it one of the only ones that did click for me, because all effects are explained on the screen itself (or behind a hover). So I was glad I didn't need to remember every mechanic to get started with the game.

But I totally understand you, I've also bounced of certain well regarded games.

  • Ironclad is my first and still my favorite class, strength scaling is just so satisfying when even your strikes start to do insane damage. I also love entrench to get very high block and then body slam to turn that into damage :).

Completed all characters on A20 with heart kills.

  • I'm working on a free software shortcut memorization tool, similar to Anki but specifically for learning keyboard shortcuts. This already exists as a website (shortcutfoo I believe), but I want it on the desktop. I'm using GTK and Python.

I was also working on a sokoban clone in Godot, but that is now past the prototype phase and now the actual cleaning up and completing the experience seems to demand too much focus. So that one just simmered down.

I'm also getting into Bionicle lore again (I used to love it as a child) and am trying out digital animation of bricklink studio models to maybe use for a simple fan-game.

I'm also eternally in the process of organizing and cleaning my old Lego sets :).

  • Is it underrated? I remember playing the game because of all the positive things I kept hearing about it. I loved it too, it has some really amazing scenes that stuck with me to this day. I just thought that this was the common opinion.

  • The headline feels a bit alarmist to me. The article itself is a bit better and more nuanced, but still I feel they are putting way to much drama around this device while almost all these issues already exist as small slabs of electronics that we wear all the time. Combined with smartwatches, smartphones do almost all the spying that is described here and add some GPS tracking wherever you go.

This is not to say that this is not a big issue, merely that this issue is not related to this new device. And also I believe Apple is in fact the only big tech provider that actually tries to be somewhat privacy conscious (Google and Microsoft don't give damn).

  • Always ready to bump my favorite game of all time, but honestly I feel this is quite a popular opinion (compared to some of the games in OP's list that are really overlooked on these discussions of best games ever).

But still, what an incredible experience, the OST for outer Wilds was my fourth most listened to on last year's Spotify Wrapped :)

    Thanks for reminding me!

  • I've read the other comments and edited mine. I clearly don't know enough on the subject to have an informed enough opinion, and what works for people works.

I do feel that there is a difference between the generic idea of occult practicing and spirituality and the specific one OP is advocating for.

My scepticism was triggered by the website through which I read OPs field manual. It immediately showed me multiple links to a "Free guided meditation" for which they wanted personal information, their "Magick.Me" online school for chaos magick which costs $81.07/month or $843.37/year, and a link to 8 celebrities who practice chaos magick as proof of it's validity, which is a tactic used by scientology.

  • As a scientist, could you point me to some research papers or studies showing that Magick is more powerful than therapy? Thanks 👍

Edit - apparently there is more to this Magick than I initially thought. If it works for people then of course that's a good thing. I've been in therapy for a long time myself and have also maybe seen to many ways that self help stuff exploited people who were in dire need of actual professional help. My issues are not related to gender so apparently this is clearly a gap in my knowledge. I hope that the helpful concepts and techniques from Magick find their way to professional health care and I'm glad it exist for the people who need it.

  • Damn you didn't even make this stuff up! I hope you realize that in the best interpretation this "Magick" is just some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness in disguise. Worst case it's just another cult thing trying to push dogmas onto you. Stay safe and let real certified therapists help you if you feel the need for it, not this stuff.
