  • I remember playing this every day at the arcade. We were talking earlier about Tetris, but this was immersion on another level. I saw my life in those graphics and understood the universe. Sadly, after one month the machine must've broken down, because it was shipped away for repairs, never to return again...

  • This might be the earliest game that is linked to my existence, as my mother bought a Game Boy and played this while pregnant :). Later on I played the same cartridge on my first gaming console: a green Game Boy Color. I cannot fathom the amount of hours I've played this game in my life.

When going to University, I found my Game Boy Color in a closet. After swapping out the batteries I realized that it still worked perfectly and I played it throughout Uni, sometimes even during lectures. I remember all my friends being excited when I got close to breaking my personal record, it was a really fun time.

Of the recent versions I really liked Tetris Effect (even if only for the phenomenal trailer). Tetris 99 is also pretty cool, but I'm really bad at competitive tetris so I never even got close to winning.

  • I really dig the Telltale formula. These games are really able to set a tone / mood and give you a great new world to escape to. I actually like the linearity, as it allows me to turn of my head and just be swept away in the story.

My favorites are The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead, both are such incredibly atmospheric masterpieces. In both cases the music is astonishing too!

Tales From The Borderlands might be the funniest game I've ever played. It came at the exact right moment in Telltale's run: a lot of tropes in their games were already established, giving them an ideal playing ground to subvert expectations and joke at their own expense.

I've heard decent things about their Batman games and still need to play the final season of The Walking Dead.

I really hope The Wolf Among Us 2 delivers and that the new team is able to survive and continue making these amazing experiences.

  • I adore anything LEGO related. As a kid I spent hours playing LEGO Rock Raiders and LEGO Football Mania. Later on I played countless of afternoons with a friend in LEGO Star Wars.

Recently I played LEGO Builder's Journey and it blew me away. It is the most realistic rendition in games of how it actually feels to play with LEGO bricks. It looks gorgeous and I really liked the chill vibe and cute story.

I've recently been enjoying LEGO Fortnite with my friends. Again, my inner child just becomes insanely happy once I can start building stuff and hear the clicks of the LEGO bricks joining together.

  • Our opinions match up almost perfectly! I adore MGS1 so much. The amount of incredible moments in that game is just staggering. My personal favorite is the death of Sniper Wolf and the fight on top of the Metal Gear + the ending!

  • The original DOOM is very special to me as it helped me get out of a very dark time. I went to therapy and got a lot of support on various fronts, but still needed something to take my mind of the pain. Something about the pure and basic gameplay just clicked: the only thing I had to do was run and shoot. The maps were complex enough to keep my mind busy and I still remember it very fondly and am grateful to this day.

Also loved DOOM 2, quite liked 3, and am currently adoring 2016.

  • My favorite is Metal Gear Solid (PS1 version). This game is just groundbreaking in so many ways, and the story is just so earnest and campy. There are some incredibly emotional moments and the final battle on top of the Metal Gear is absolutely insane.

  • Honest question: what is so dangerous about children seeing nudity / sex in media? I understand that it could skew their perception of what reality is like, but I think a good book is often better at realistically depicting this kind of stuff than what they would find on the internet when the legal sources have dried up.

  • I was hoping to get some conversation going and it seems to have worked out well! I would love to help out / keep posting these kinds of things regularly. People could dm possible candidates for the next post or put them at the end of their comments. I'm also interested to do this for games that I know are popular but that I don't play, always fun to hear people being passionate about stuff :).

  • You can totally do act 4, I believe in you! Just make sure to remove weak cards (strikes) whenever you can. And try to get enough card draw (an upgraded Pommel Strike does damage and draws 2 cards for example).
