In all likelihood, it’s actually quite literally just in bags sitting on the moon as I am pretty sure that at least the early LM designs didn’t have external storage compartments where it could be stored in considering the ascent stages left the moon.

Still not something I would really be concerned about though.

I felt like I wanted to be part of the solution by stopping my usage of reddit. I didn’t want to continue to support a site I fundamentally disagree with on how they handled their monetization strategy by screwing over so many people.

At this point, I no longer doom scroll reddit or even lemmy and it feels good to not waste my time doing so.

This is why I take a multivitamin. I deal with low iron and it helps a bit. Gotta be careful thought if you do have an iron deficiency since many multivitamins don’t have iron. I could just take iron supplements but my doctor agreed that it was a good idea to just go with a multivitamin.

Maybe I’m applying too much of my own personal use case for how I use tools like Dropbox then. I’m using it for documents I actually want synchronized between devices, with a cloud backup and history. I suppose if you’re looking at it for a cloud storage solution, ignoring the desktop sync aspect then I can see where that makes more sense.

I just have a hard time wrapping my head around using cloud storage for such large files being an optimal solution but then again if storage cost is the biggest objection, unlimited storage sounds like it’s removing said objection and you don’t have much choice if you’re working as a remote team so great point, I hadn’t thought about it like that.

At some point though I feel like if someone would be using Dropbox for 8k videos, they should be wondering if they are using the right solution for their needs. I would say _absolutely (edit: maybe) not.

I would have said that I tend to agree but it turns out I just like the shorter throw of the keys. I have a few mechanical keyboards like model m buckling spring that I tried to use recently and the thing that messed with me is just how far you have to press. My main PC, which is almost only used for gaming, has a mechanical keyboard but the switches are much lower travel to activate which I find nice.

I uninstall apps from my phone that have ads that prevent the experience from being decent. I understand then need for ads but if you force me to regularly watch 30 second ads? You’re gone.

The part of this poat that I found most interesting was the 2px presentational grey line.

And even if they could get $240k the first year, the chances of people abandoning an extension because they are now getting spammed with ads/spyware seems like quite a factor. If my ad blocker started reporting my browser history, I would be dropping that thing like a bad habit.

I mean, if it is an ad that actually directly gets the video creator paid, I’m not even mad about those, especially when it’s quality content. Not a fan of those who just take common searches for questions online and create a long video to explain the answer when it should have just stayed as a stackoverflow question and answer or something.

We used BlueJeans at the startup I worked for starting in 2014. At some point a few years in, we switched to Zoom. I distinctly remember BlueJeans absolutely tearing through my laptop’s battery and the fan going into full hover mode. I was so glad to be rid of that thing.

Containers are such a game changer for how I manage my apps and their dependencies. Love how I can try things out in a container, nuke it and start over, knowing I have a clean environment. I hate installing anything on my native host OS install these days if I can help it.

Minor nit here - “docker containers” or just “containers” because “dockers” are pants.

Older: Command and Conquer Generals. I’ve started playing it with my kid which is fun. Newer: Rocket League. It’s been fun especially when I stop caring about ranking up. It’s just a game and I can play for 10 minutes and walk away.

While true, I feel like there is less “filler” content in my feeds, just probably because of how recently I’ve curated them. My reddit subs were a hot mess of 10 years of subbing to things with never doing any sort of mass sweep of things I’m not really finding value in.

To me, zfs is like the Gentoo of file systems. If you actually use the zfs features and do a lot of digging and experimentation before you go all in on it, it’s not bad; it really can be quite good. If someone wants a filesystem that they format and forget, ext4 and xfs are still solid options. I used to use ext4 for most of my filesystem needs and xfs for my long term storage on top of mdadm. I just really wanted zfs snapshots.

After having gone to solutions that allow for simple and seamless password sharing between users, it’s hard for me to go back. Last I checked, none of the Keepass solutions could really seamlessly share passwords and have them update in some fashion without manual user intervention. That being said, I used it for a long time in my Dropbox and then Own/Nextcloud before moving to a password service, Lastpass and then Vaultwarden after the Lastpass security fumbles.

I user homer. Really simple, basic config and it looks nice. The stats are pretty cool for certain integrations and are easy to add - I’ve added a few myself for services that didn’t have them. Only issue is slow PR review.
