  • America, again get your fucking house in order.

It is genuinely upsetting to watch from the outside as a cold war baby who has visited the states a heap of times and is really fond of the place but this about sums it up.

  • That's exactly what you get when you don't punch the bully back. Russia broke the well defined post WW2 rule. It was a pretty simple rule too.... Don't try to rob your neighbour's land.

They should not be rewarded in any way for it. If anything they already have been.

  • When they got banned, we got stuck with paper ones for 25c

Cheeky bastards! We had a single use for €0.25 for a while but that's long gone. Paper bags are still free. They're generally small unless you're buying clothes or whatever. You definitely wouldn't be bagging the weekly shop with them but most places offer free boxes from the shelf stocking leftovers.

They also released $15 "washable paper bags" that I don't understand who is the target audience.

Very, very rich people is the answer. Surely the amount of energy to wash one is not that far off a fresh paper bag.

  • You say that now but that sounds exactly like every fucker I've ever heard with a hangover saying "Jaysus, Mary and Joseph and all his carpenter friends I'm never touching a pint again."

As my father used to say "hunger is good sauce".

Four pints in and no dinner I'd gobble that down. GOBBLE IT. Best sandwich I've ever had at that point I'd wager.

  • Absolute fucking hero. If my time ever comes I hope I have the same moral fortitude.

  • That is cuntish. Where was that?

  • Not being preachy...If you're taking the first exit (turning right essentially if you drive on the right or turning left of you drive on the left) you should be indicating as you enter. It allows traffic from other lanes to enter the roundabout without stopping to figure out where you're going.

  • 100% the same. I never even think about it. It's just baked into my brain.

The only time I don't is leaving my driveway. We're corner house on a quiet cul-de-sac so it just doesn't occur to me.

People leaving roundabouts on the first exit who don't indicate before entering are the ones that annoy me most. They will watch me waiting to enter or slow down to stop as they approach and literally not lift a finger to help.

Roundabout = indicator you donkey. There's literally no legal way to use one without it (here anyway).

  • What are the noise levels like? From the article it sounds like we have the space but the video on that page does sound quite noisy.

  • I accept that 100%. I've seen a decent bit the US and it's such an enormous lump of land with so many different people and cultures that anyone trying to lump them together into some homogenous mass is off their rocker.

Sure you can travel an hour on a train in Europe and be in a totally different world culturally. The distance for those changes is bigger in the US but holy moly do they exist.

  • I'm only across the water in Ireland and I can tell you from experience that ambulances arrive quickly, are free and so is the treatment. The UK health system is measurably better than ours so I feel like this is plucked from somewhere that the sun doesn't shine.

  • Very first thought was "surely that's treason".

I must look up the legal definition.

  • “Even if the U.S. continues to impose higher tariffs, it will no longer make economic sense and will become a joke in the history of world economy,” the ministry said in a statement,

Very concisely put. We're at that point. Trade is effectively shut down at this point between the two. My limited understanding is that on the US side this will hit farmers the hardest.

Guess we're going to see a flood of cheap Chinese stuff in every other market in the world too soon.

  • Slice of ham, leaf of lettuce, coleslaw. Roll that sucker up like a little burrito. Nom nom nom.

  • It's in Ireland. A place called Drogheda. Pronounced dro-hed-a. The g is silent in Irish. Or if you're from there it's.... Drawwww da :) The accent there has a very soft drawl.

  • No mention of motivation. I don't understand why anyone would choose a random person to just utterly destroy like that. Like even though he's been found innocent can you imagine the horror of being told you were accused of that?

    Anyone read more elsewhere?
