  • We asked for this.

Americans may have asked for this, but Greenland, Canada, Panama, Gaza and all the other countries that Trump is insulting, threatening and attacking didn't.

Get your shit together, America. Fix your house.

  • The real travesty is that a death penalty is still a possibility in any society.

Were that not a plausible outcome, these jurors wouldn't have had to wrestle with the moral dilemma of having their actions potentially lead to the death of another human.

  • If this is actually an attempt to bring manufacturing jobs back to America

If it is, then he needs to go after wall street.

The only reason those manufacturing jobs left the US is because the business owners (and their investors) demanded that labour costs be cut far below what American workers could live on.

But we all know that he won't go after his fellow millionaires. Nor the billionaires he pretends to be.

  • I think the cpc is probably holding off on attack ads until after the leader is selected,

I'm already seeing anti-Carney ads from the conservatives.

Predictably, they're labelling him Trump-style with a childish nickname "carbon tax Carney"...

  • It's interesting to see how US politics are affecting Canadian vote shares. Is that a common thing or is it an isolated event given what's going on in the US at the moment?

Allow me to illustrate with a quote from former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau:

"Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt,"

That was part of a speech he gave at the Washington press club in 1969.

  • Not to give them ideas but couldn’t he just fund his own fake Wikipedia clone?

Isn't that basically what conservapedia is?

(Link is not to the actual site, but rather to an article about them - not giving that shithole traffic)

  • A surprising (and impressive) number of their Kirkland branded stuff is made in Canada, with a few even being product of Canada.

Yeah, it's still an American head office, but they treat their employees well, and they're pushing back against stuff like Trump's anti DEI policies, so I'm willing to cut them a bit of slack.

I'm still buying made in Canada there, though. Or made not in the USA (got beans from Mexico, prosciutto from Italy and olives from Greece as part of my last shop there)
