Metro Vancouver used to be called "Greater Vancouver Area" as well.

What changed is that the mayors stood up to an idiotic public-private partnership a far right premier was trying to force through. So he replaced the greater vancouver mayoral board with a board appointed directly by the premier, which promptly green-lit the project.

And because CTV/Global/Nat.Post/Sun are all extremely pro-corporate media, they followed along in supporting the change.

Now, not two decades later the RAV line is a mess. The line is over capacity, stations are too small and cant be expanded without changing the entire line. Meanwhile the union made and publically owned Skytrain system is going on 40 years old and is working fine.

It has happened before. They just swept it under the rug and blamed the client.

That paragraph is on its own because it is a different topic. In this case I was using my own experience experimenting with chatgpt4 as to why I won't be using it any time soon.

Hell, starcraft created the concept of a professional gamer being a thing. To say that RTS games dont have popular appeal is just outright wrong.

Sure, pre "trickle down" Canada crown corporations: Passenger Trains, now private(Via Rail) Oil: Imperial Oil, now Enbridge(and its insane russian doll network of shell companies) and Petro-Canada ISPs: BCTel+AlbertaTel: Telus, Ontario and Quebec: Bell Even just that subset would drastically change Canada for the absolute better.

Corporations are only people when it comes to rights they can abuse.

I can also add that in the Bronze age there was a critical trade route used to get Tin from now-Afghanistan to the eastern Mediterranean, and a lot of the city states in that area were basically stopovers on that larger route or between the big empires in the region.

Well no, before the British arrived the land belonged to the Ottoman Empire. Before that it belonged to the Byzantine/Eastern Roman empire, Roman Empire, Greece, Persia. It hasn't been a "free" land since at least the mid to early Iron Age.

Edit: Even then, it was only free from the end of the Bronze Age, where it was a smattering of city states either part of or beholden to primarily the whims of the Hittites, Egyptians or Assyrians.

The thing is that the AI text is atrocious and vapid. It takes up a lot of space and says

The trick is that AI took 12 paragraphs and using a list incorrectly to do it instead of a sentence. And the editor calls it out for that.
