  • A Google search preview from the official Barcelona Asus store “Asus by MacMan” has accidentally revealed what many feared: the ROG Xbox Ally X will retail for €899, while the standard model sits at €599.

These European prices translate to eye-watering figures globally, potentially pushing the premium handheld well beyond the $1000 threshold in certain markets.

Now, let’s all calm down. This is based on leaked data.

If I had to guess, Microsoft leaked this themselves so that they could gauge just how much we balked at the price, and then come down to something more reasonable, making the still over-priced unit look like a better deal in the end.

Until we see the actual device for sale at this price, let’s set down the pitchforks for another day.

  • I’m gonna drive my car…because that’s necessary, but I haven’t eaten meat (red, white, blue, whatever) for 20 years, so between that, not adding to the surface population, and not voting for complete jackasses, I think I’ve at least offset the driving.

  • I have a friend who was part of their 1900 layoff shortly after acquiring Blizzard in 2024. Basically, brought into a meeting and then no more job.

She learned last week that every single person who remained in her former group except one had been laid off in this last round. We’re talking about people who had been with Blizzard for years and years and had been happy with their jobs and loved even playing the games that they were making. Just poof! Gone.

The layoffs have been asinine enough, but the completely tone-deaf response from one of their leaders saying “use AI to help with the trauma of job loss” has just been the icing on the cake.

  • If this inquiry has no power to actually do anything about this finding, I’m not sure I understand the point.

Anyone who ever read a history book already knows about the multiple genocides. The issue is what happens now?

  • As someone who recently built a new home (not with DR Horton because they are complete trash), the solution to this issue rests in the inspection process.

Especially with a builder well-known for shoddy workmanship, you have to have every single phase of the house inspected and you need to be onsite regularly to point out things to the builder. Also, while builders are giving such incredible incentives on spec homes with like 4.5% rates, sometimes, it isn’t worthwhile in the end because you miss out on the option of having the house inspected at every point.

DR Horton has a neighborhood a few streets from mine and I could have had a bigger home for possibly cheaper, but I refused to use them. I had an inspection at just pre-drywall and pre-close, but a DR Horton home requires inspections at the initial dig, pre-foundation pouring, post-pouring, framing, electrical and plumbing, pre-insulation, post-drywall, flooring installation, pre-close, and then an 11-month inspection, too. And, if the builder says things like “the inspector can’t go onto the roof” or “we don’t have to fix anything that the inspector finds” walk. Regardless of the incentives, the headache is not worth the offer.

  • Lib Dems campaigned on a promise of free uni … then did the exact opposite and tripled the price when awarded the power to do something about it.

    Un-freaking-believable…

I’ve always known the Tories were trash, but I had no idea that there was a whole extra party that were just as bad. Crimony…

  • Could someone explain how this happens?

It was my general understanding - albeit as an American - that university costs were virtually close to nothing outside of a few exceptions. Have the costs risen that much over the last 15-20 years to create this level of debt?

Most of the Brits I interact with have always pumped up the education system as being so much cheaper than that in US, but there’s a chance that those comprised of mostly older Gen X who graduated 30 years ago without noting recent changes, but this news is very surprising to me. £53K in debt is nearing the same amount that the average millennial had at graduation as well.

  • Osmosis Jones.

A half-and-half cartoon and live action film with Chris Rock as the titular character from the late-90s/early-00s. The movie was a flop, but I think it had more to do with lousy marketing. It was actually pretty good and a fun way to look at how things affect the human body.

David Hyde Pierce as the enormous Pill was a great choice, and Bill Murray was hilarious.

  • They don’t have to raise prices. They are choosing to raise prices, and let’s be honest here, I doubt that they really needed a reason to raise prices at all. These retailers were just waiting for the opportunity.

And…I’d love to see how quickly these same retailers drop their prices when these tariffs are lifted.
