Hm that's an idea, I know she still reacts to quick movements sometimes so I might find one for her. Then toss her a treat every so often so she feels like she's had a reward
Didn't get too wet out there, got through quite a bit, very satisfied. Geez I hope there's more fieldwork coming up. When it's easy and streamlined like this and out in the bush I'd happily keep going. Great for the mind and body.
Now it's time to get some cat love π₯° it's so nice having Sox at home although I feel like she's thoroughly bored, poor dear. It is a claustrophobic, dark and small apartment, and there isn't even anything interesting to look at out the windows! I can't even play with her using her toys because there's no room to move around easily.
Bliss. Soxcat has decided to nestle on my lap in bed, for the second night in a row, of her own accord π₯° even though the oodiecatbed is right there.
It will be sad to shuffle her off when it's time to sleep. For now, maybe I'll read an ebook...
Beautiful day out doing fieldwork in a large bushland area with no public access - I feel thoroughly restored and invigorated. Just as well because tomorrow looks like it'll be a bit shit... Must not forget to pack a thermos of piping hot water.
It's always more boxes than you think. I really was almost furious at myself the way I kept going and going and going when I moved out of my last place. How TF did I accumulate so much shit in just 4 years?! I ended up having to cull more than I thought, and it was all hurried and anxiety-inducing.
I've spent way too long over the past couple days looking up the curious case of an orange oily substance coming out of my uh, rear end recently. Long story short, apparently it can be caused by some kinds of white fish - and I did eat an unusual one on Wednesday - but it's not going away, so I'm starting to wonder if it's a pancreas thing.
Ah well, enough Dr Google - real drs appt it is on Wednesday, hopefully it won't be $60 out of pocket just to be told it's stress...
These chilli oils are generally designed to be tasty but not necessarily very hot. I used to eat lao gan ma out of the jar and this stuff is probably not as spicy (this brand appears to be marketed at westeners).
I did get one made locally brand at some Asian shop a couple years ago that was definitely on the much hotter side. Wish I remembered the name. Took me over a year to finish it. Strong onion presence which I love
For real. I estimated I saved about $20 on a 3/4 refill. Worth the detour. Especially if you're doing long drives. Hopefully the cycle will be coming down next time you need to fill up! I'm kind of annoyed because I thought low crude oil prices = low fuel prices overall but nope, they're still going to go up when the petrol station cartel decides to...
I filled up yesterday after I forgot on Wednesday and a whole chunk of places had upped their prices overnight. 20c is one thing but 50-60c is an easy minimum $20 saving on a full tank. Luckily there was no queue at the place yesterday, I once went to fill up at the last cheap station in the western suburbs a few months ago and it took 20 mins just to get to the fuel pump. Tensions were running high with traffic blocking the side street and what have you.
Success, I am now trapped on the couch by a warm and purry feline. ... I'm just not in the most comfortable position to hold but I mustn't move the cat.
I gave her a Churu knockoff earlier to improve the mood all around, I think I might actually steal her cat bed and wear it to see if she'll come snuggle on the couch
The blues are here even with soxcat around. Some sad news lately that just seems to put a damper on things and my lack of progress lately on the thesis ain't good.
Try again tomorrow... Gonna disappear into a chip packet for now and ponder AI taking over everything again after watching some VEO 3 clips.
Also I can't get over how unbelievably soft sox's fur is. And she still smells like baby powder. Even though she only eats dine crap at home...
Yes, I don't think she was too happy at all about having to move and was certainly upset about it at the beginning. But I think food and warmth trumps a lot of misgivings and she definitely remembers me now even though I'm not in the same place.
When she was younger and she lived in the same apartment complex at me she was pretty chilled out even on the first day, though it took her longer to get comfy enough for lap time.
This time around she's started off hot but then gone a lot further. I guess there's not much else for her to do in this tiny apt either...
Pretty awful day to be out and about but it was made bearable through teamwork (can't believe I said that). I might do some work from home tomorrow and see if the cat can be enticed to enjoy some lap time on the oodie. In fact, I might do a bit of that tonight if I feel up to it... sox was remarkably affectionate when I got back and even did a bit of lap sitting in order to furiously headbutt my gloved hand. I suppose she must love the hand that feeds her the treats π
