  • I would gladly take the Texas Eagle to Chicago on a regular basis to see family if it didn't cost $1,800 for a very small room in the sleeper car. I prefer the train to flying or driving. It's just a LOT cheaper to load up the minivan and drive 12 hours instead.

  • Yes, this would technically work. Although, it would only power the hot leg the outlet is connected to which only feeds part of the house.

It's very dangerous for a variety of reasons. Especially if you forget to shut off the mains breaker. The transformer can backfeed power down the line at line voltages, creating a shock hazard for lineman or anyone else who might have contact with the line.

  • I was trying to describe what my tinnitus sounds like, and I told my wife that it's "like the sound a CRT TV makes but louder". She had no idea what I was talking about. Turns out she can't hear sounds in the 15khz range; which is at the top of the human audible range anyways.

I wish I could tell my younger self to turn the volume down on his headphones and wear ear protection around heavy equipment. Too late. Now I've gotta live with this high pitched whine for the rest of my life. Thankfully mine doesn't bother me most of the time.

  • I don't normally sleep with a stuffed animal but when my two toddlers are spending the night at my inlaws, I'll sometimes grab a couple of their stuffies to sleep with because I miss them and it makes me feel better.

  • ADHD is a brain/neurological disorder that has a wide range of symptoms, including memory issues. I can't tell you exactly why we have trouble remembering names but I am 100% certain that it's not because you're a bad or self-centered person.

You've gotta give yourself a little grace. Living with with ADHD is hard and you can't just power through it, any more than someone missing a leg can run marathons.

  • I sometimes have difficulty remembering people's names. Even people I have known for years.
It's really frustrating when you suddenly see someone you know very well and can't more than a "Hey! ...you" out only for their name to immediately pop into your head about 30 seconds after the conversation is over and you're walking away.
