  • Don't apologize for using the headline from the article, that's always the safe bet!

  • Hopefully they'll look at what could have been done to resolve each shooting instead of dumb, knee jerk reactions that don't resolve the problems.

    For example:

    The Allen, Texas mall shooter:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Allen,_Texas_mall_shooting

"Garcia was then enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 2008, but he never completed basic training: he was terminated after three months due to mental health concerns.[38][39] Because this was an administrative separation, rather than a punitive discharge, Garcia's termination by the Army would not show up on the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.[40]"

If the Army can't have you because they think you're mentally unstable before you even finish basic training, maybe that's thr sort of thing that NEEDS to be in a background check. Ya think?

This wasn't a case of buying through a gun show loophole, or an illegal purchase. Guy had no crimimal record, passed the background check, and bought the gun.

The problem is "What goes into the background check?"

  • If you knew the waterfall was safe, why not deliver the baby behind the waterfall?

Really easy questions that the script fails to answer.

  • I blame the dumbass little kid for getting himself killed, but you're right, she set it up.

But here's the thing... she's REALLY hateable in the sequel. Not sure what they were going for there.

  • You would think that, for a static loading screen, that's the same every time, it would just be a video clip and not generated live, in engine.

  • My work software kept seeing weird bugs in Chrome, so I switched permanently.

  • Imagine not understanding the difference between inner forearms and outer forearms...

  • Which is why we have a Supreme Court to define what the Constitution means. ;)

  • Congress can't do that, they can only approve who the executive sends them.

  • Weirdly, the worst frame drops are in the cut scenes.

When you're in New Atlantis, taking mass transit anywhere, the train pulls out of the station at a good 5-10 fps.

  • I mean, in fairness, have you seen how Fetterman fits into a suit and tie? He makes anything look like a hoodie and shorts. I don't mean that as a perjorative, they just don't make suits his size unless you want your Senator buying $5,000 tailored suits. Or worse... getting $5,000 tailored suits donated to them from special interests.

  • Probably what it is. Someone on a student Visa or some such.

  • You'd want a 2nd chart I'd think with the #1 "from" country for each European country.

  • That's not what that means though.

"In all cases affecting ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, and those in which a state shall be party, the Supreme Court shall have original jurisdiction."

So for ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, and those in which a state shall be party, the Supreme Court is the original arbiter of truth.

"In all the other cases before mentioned, the Supreme Court shall have appellate jurisdiction, both as to law and fact"

For everything else, some other body is in control and the Supreme Court serves merely as an apellate court. If you don't like how the original body has ruled, you can appeal that to the Supreme Court.

"with such exceptions, and under such regulations as the Congress shall make."

Congress is that other body, which has no say over ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, and those in which a state shall be party, everything else Congress does can be appealed to the Supreme Court.

That paragraph doesn't give Congress control over the Supreme Court, it gives the Supreme Court appeallate power over everything Congress does.

  • I mean, he's not wrong, he's just being an asshole about it. :)

The Constitution gives two controls on the Supreme Court:

    1. Nominees are made by the Executive branch and confirmed by the Senate.
    2. Impeachment.

That's it. There's nothing else in the Constitution about judicial ethics, or recusals, or anything else.

There isn't even really a control on bad or unpopular decisions by the court. It isn't like the relationship between Congress and the executive where they pass laws and the President signs or vetos them and congress can over-ride the veto power.

When the Supreme Court makes an unpopular decision, the only recourse is for Congress to pass a new Amendment.

  • That's only 1/2 the stat though...
