  • It could actually stop the war, as it's widely speculated that Netanyahu keeps escalating just to delay that trial.

Obviously it's morally bankrupt, and there's plenty of other levers the US President could use to get the same outcome.

  • They probably don't make a huge amount of money on childhood vaccines. The money is in chronic illnesses, diet injections and expensive cancer treatments.

In fact, they collectively probably would make more money treating measles cases than selling vaccines.

  • Makes no sense to me. You're the opposition party so if you all vote for it, it's not going to pass anyway. Just vote for it as a signal to voters that you do care. If you can do that song and dance for the minimum wage, why can't you do it for this?

I mean, obviously this is due to AIPAC having bought all those candidates, but still.

  • I mean, that's not really surprising. Every military makes plans for any contingency, and Israel especially has always been paranoid about Iran's nuclear programme, so of course they would make sure they're tracking the scientists in case they needed to make a move.

The disgusting part is them just pulling the trigger for political reasons instead of actual intelligence that indicates a breakout. And obviously killing civilians, which the scientists and their families are, but obviously Israel has shown in the past they don't care about that.

  • There's a tension in the Republican party between the ones that talk about immigration just to be elected (the owner class that bankrolls the Republican party), and the ones that actually want them gone (like Stephen Miller and most of the MAGA base). The former realises that illegal immigration is useful to stop workers from organising and depress wages, the latter doesn't care about that and wants them gone. That's why you are Trump taking both sides of the issue: he wants exceptions for hotels, construction and farms (because he's hired illegals himself for these things), but he also doesn't want to alienate his base because 'they took our jobs' and all that.

That's the main reason ICE has historically been told to only deport 'criminals' and leave the rest alone instead of doing what they're doing now.
