And its not like you can only learn by watching the news 🙈

I learn plenty of things all day long. Just not from the news.

Mind you, i still want to retreat from society :)

But also, my father died 4 years ago, my mother just two months ago. One learns to "not give a shit". They where 62 and 61 respectively. I'm 43.

Life's too short to worry about things you can't control. And since i can't control anything on the news, i stopped watching, and stopped caring.

I CAN control how i handle those around me. So i try to be as respectful and as friendly as i can be to those close by.

I have stopped watching the news a few years ago. Occasionally i'll check it if something major happens, otherwise i'll hear the important things through others.

I must admit i am much happier since. So i rather know little :)

Why switch distros? Go to Sid if you want the latest and greatest? Or maybe testing if you want a bit of best of both worlds? :) I'm really curious why you think you need to change distro's.

I've been on IRC long before the stone age (so to speak) and its neither dated nor dead.

Not everyone needs the fancy audio, video and imagery that new protocols provider for. Some of us are content with just text. And for me thats the great value of IRC.

I'm a member of several Windows forums.. there's just as much complaining there :-)

I comfort myself with the idea that it must be harder to lose a child. I suppose that will have to be enough :(

They died. At very crucial points in my life. My dad 4 years ago, i mom 1.5 months ago.

A CD-Rom with Windows ME. only took me 2 hours after buying to break it in pieces. It hung in the computer store for years as a trofee 😂
