  • That reminds me of this savings plan from 10 year ago that McDonalds and Visa created to show people how you can live on ~$20k per year:

They forgot to include food, among other wild inaccuracies. I love it when corporations give helpful savings tips.

  • That isn't the point. The article explains that Virgin intended it to mean they guarantee 30Mbps. But customers would interpret it to mean they have the guaranteed fastest speed.

The distinction is the specific 30Mbps guarantee vs actually being guaranteed fastest of any competitor.

  • If 45,000 are left in Ukraine and Ukraine is approximately 400 miles wide, that's still 112 Russian troops per linear mile to push west.

Obviously they aren't spaced in one line across the country like that, but it gives some perspective on how many are left and how much space they could fill.

  • Best:

    • Baldur's Gate 3
    • Against the Storm
    • Dave the Diver
    • Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew - I usually hate tactical strategy games, but this one's good. The quicksave/reload feature makes it pretty fun to experiment and goof around.
    • Dead Cells (I'm behind)
    • Grounded
    • Tears of the Kingdom

    Mediocre

    • Dredge - It was a unique experience, but I never really understood the fear/consequences despite fully finishing it.
    • Armored Core 6 - The balance in this series always ruins them, even though I try to love them every time. Being forced into a specific build takes the fun out of customization.

I guess I avoided the worst games this year!

  • Did Remnant 2 feel more unique than Remnant 1? I tried the 1st and fell off in the 2nd world because it all felt too similar with a handful of enemies and procedural chunks. Reluctant to try the 2nd if it's got the same lack of variety.

  • How did Remnant 2 compare to Remnant 1 for you if you played both? I started Remnant 1 just before the 2nd release, and I really liked the concept but everything felt too generic and started to get old really quickly. I think the biggest issue was the procedural generation made everything too similar. The worlds all felt the same with only a few enemy types.

  • Agreeing to that sets a precedent that it's okay to bargain an entire country, forfeiting its people's lives, and strengthening America's long term enemy.

It's wild that all that is even up for bids with the price being a racist boogeyman election talking point.

  • Hearing someone talk about a time that you vividly remember as a generic 100 year historical era.

It feels like someone dropped those decades into an archive folder with the rest of history and left it to collect dust.

  • They do, but those laws have failed in every situation I've read.

Apparently Oklahoma deemed their bounty law unconstitutional.

In Texas, a case got thrown out because the plaintiff must show that they've been harmed by the actions of the defendant. Some random jackass can't sue for an abortion that doesn't impact them in any way, as much as the Texas legislature would like that to be the case.
