  • It would be useful for a community to have the ability opt-out of Private voting. i.e. some meta information in the sidebar that piefed can see and it will not enable private voting for that community.

  • There are some really bitter people on Lemmy. That's why there are so many downvotes everywhere. Some people just need to go outside and touch grass... Which is a form of traveling.

  • This is a great opportunity to change your life for the better. You got a warning, and can use that to motivate change.

I'm a strong believer in a low carbohydrate Diet, and moderate exercise. Remove the sugars from your diet, and go for long walks. As you improve you will find more energy to do more

Find a workout buddy? A local health coach, or trainer? Join a gym? Those are ways to motivate more activity.

Join a food community, that can help you stick to a better eating pattern.

  • Not me, I think it's a great idea....

I have no idea how such impossible projects get greenlit... Is it just a bluffing game that nobody expects to actually finish so everyone keeps upping the ante?

  • Typically surrogates carry a couples baby to term, they are not genetically related to the child. The procedure is done via IVF.

What you describe is having 100ish children, with 100 different biological mothers... An different thing entirely.

In most of the world it's illegal to sell a child.

  • I read papers, I would like to know the criteria for pseudoscience so I can identify it in a paper.

So far it appears if a paper does fit your preconceived bias it's pseudoscience

It is possible for two different people to read the literature and come to different conclusions, that's normal in science, the next step is to apply the theory and see if you get the result you predict.

  • Gary Taubes and Nina Teicholz

I have nothing but respect for them, but they are journalists and not conducting science themselves.

But yes, I will say epidemiology should only be considered hypothesis generating, not demonstrating causation. The best way to tell if a epidemiology paper is clinically useful is if they express their results in absolute risk (they almost never do)

However, this is a field of science, the philosophy and influencers don't matter, all that matters is health outcomes. If people are getting the outcomes they want then I'm happy for them.

There is research that also points to meat being beneficial - so I absolutely don't think its reasonable to close the book on nutrition as solved, and meat is the enemy.

Ahh, I see you are now downvoting my comments! OK, Message received
