side note, how in the hell is reddit infested with so many bots yet i cant get an alt that doesnt get instabanned for the life of me? the increasingly angry messages from the admins each time they swat a new one are funny and all, but i wouldnt mind an account to occasionally say something from. tried using VPN and it didnt seem to work. Note: am not a tech guy so probably missing something very obvious

I'm happily on the garmin ecosystem. Felix 5x is still going strong for about 2 weeks battery on normal use. takes a beating and still looks new. only had to replace the band. I use garmin on my bike too

there's a lot of people clammering at the opportunity to shape conservations that fit their agenda. at least the cookers in the past were generally laughed out of the room but I've seen quite a few make concerted efforts to control certain subs

true story. my son has a bit of a phobia for public toilets and one day I was out with him and his sister in the city, riding ferry etc. I could see around lunchtime he needed to go, but he refused as he usually does. after lunch it was obvious he really needed to go and wouldn't make it back home in time (1.5 hour train ride plus time to get back to the station). there was a nicish public toilet at Manly Beach and I walked him in, he had agreed to try as he was clearly desperate.

but he decided no he couldn't go.

so we catch the ferry back to Sydney. again I asked to take him into the toilet as it was quite nice, but he refused. as we got to the train station, there was no excuse. he was bursting. had to go and had no choice. took him into the toilet. it was without a doubt, handsdown, the worst I had EVER been into. there was shit in the floors, smeared on walls, on the frikken toilet seats. piss everywhere. he had no choice. thankfully there was toilet paper.

I cleaned the seat as best as I could with toilet paper. he went.

we disinfected the shit out of both ourselves when we finally got home.

yes! his solo trip to Hawaii was the first I came across, one of the more genuine sailing channels and not as "influencerish" as a lot of the others

yep while we havnt gotten quite as far as the extreme right in the US, the nutbags here in aus love to focus on similar oddly specific things, like trans people and sex education which is going through a bit of a renaissance of ignorant idiots trying to make it an issue.

its even funnier because we don't have a large religious base to even justify it and most of the lunatics pushing it would probably identify as atheist or agnostic

the issue is the creators people follow are often only on YouTube (it's the only platform that makes sense for long form content which is all I watch). I think there's a few smaller ones like Rumble but that's like lemmy to reddit (at this point), there's just not the depth of content there particularly around niche communities. youtube has us by the balls and they know it, and while I firmly believe eventually a competitor will reach critical mass, its a while off

its basically just proportioning out the nations budget against the amount of tax paid,assuming you had access to how much was spent where by category, it would be a peice of piss to make

assuming its a chain or franchise. if its a small family run/independant place, good luck

I get that its essentially a merc group and 'a job' for a lot of the wagners, but surely some are thinking about the friends/brothers they lost fighting in ukraine and now essentially being told it was for nothing now its time to just go fight somewhere else for 'reasons'. i cant imaging moral would be high, although im not sure many of them have much choice other than to go along

that is one of the more hilarious things ive heard out of this whole conflict of russia continually embarressing itself

its well known china has an enormous online presence set around spreading misinformation, and of course the worlds best 'whataboutisms' you are ever likely to see
