  • States have an obligation under international human rights law

The Human Rights law, is "international", as in more than one nation recognizes it... and only 160+ of ~200 nations routinely break it with little consequence.

  • And therefore, lies my point: you will find a lot of people whom you'll have to copy&paste that justification for. For life. 😉

Bonus: also beware of referring to the USA as "the United States", less you bring forth the wrath of someone from the "Mexican United States".

  • On the other side of the border...

"Average citizens have been forced to leave their family homes because that same government is waging war on innocent people."

Sure, you can stay until it impacts you personally... but don't expect anyone whom your country was calling an "enemy", to take you in just like that.

  • You're above average. Having a minimum of reading comprehension already qualifies you as a mod. You don't need to know much about a given topic to mod the obvious trolls. But... you're only one person, no matter how fast you read or write, you have a limit, and you shouldn't go above it or you end up halfassing the job, or what users call "power tripping" (not taking context into account, blindly relying on user reports or votes just to get things out of the way, etc.).

While I can see pictures in my mind's eye, my thoughts are generally visualizations of words themselves.

There were some interesting discussions about imagination, aphantasia, internal monologue, and different ways of internal perception on Reddit... they're likely gone now (at least for my part).

  • Unless... you know how to do it. I've printed pressure stuff that held from 0 to over 20 bar, it's all in knowing your materials and slicer settings. Many people don't know how to make a print watertight in vase mode, so... 🤷

  • What can I tell you, other than to avoid the kind of people who take something about you, and turn it into an attack. Also don't bring up the topic yourself unless you want to defend it, and —however hard it is— try to "not attribute to malice, that which is simple ignorance".

There are also some rhetoric tricks you can use to return an attack, but you risk being perceived as a troublemaker.

  • You're supporting my point: those F-16s are going to have the latest countermeasure suit.

It doesn't matter how "invisible" is the plane (Ukraine already downed a Russian Su-57) or how "hypersonic" is the missile it launches (Ukrainian ground countermeasures are also taking care of those), what matters is whether it can hit you or not.

A bunch of "old" F-16s equipped with the latest stuff, plus some decent ground support... we'll see how it goes, but since Russia hasn't been able to establish air superiority over Ukraine in all this time, with a little push Ukraine likely will.

  • "Syria Palaestina", for extra spite.

If we go back, Israelites were going around offering cities to either join them or be exterminated... if we go forward, Crusaders gave no option to anyone... and so on.

It's a really bad patch of land, now with too many large religions trying to claim it, some even hoping for the Apocalypse to start there ASAP. Then you add the water shortages, and global warming is only going to make those worse.
