USB-PD is a de-facto low-power DC voltage standard, with USB-C being the universal plug. Hurray!

Wegmans is the same way over here on the East Coast. I can check out with alcohol, someone just needs to come over to scan the override. They always have an attendant or two and I rarely have to wait. Most of the time, as soon as they see the alcohol, they come over before I have even scanned it.
When the machines don't babysit you and treat you like a theif, it goes astoundingly fast. I love self checkout, for a lot of the same reasons you do, and I get to pack my bags how I like. I avoid places with the insane systems with cameras, sensors, and scales trying to suss out if you are a theif. Especially as they don't let you scan the next item until the previous is on the other side and don't have handhelds.
I wonder if the $300 is sort of like extra startup money to get better hardware, infrastructure, software improvements in the short term. I honestly have no idea. I pop on there sometimes to watch the full length videos from YouTube and there is some really great content, but not necessarily enough. Their UI/apps could definitely use some work, though I have not checked recently.
I really hope they continue to run and it looks like I need to catch up on some content. I took a break from most YouTube/TV/etc. I cancelled all of my other subscriptions, but I have no reason to not support a company like Nebula, especially at their price points.
I am not going to debate the ethics of piracy or people's justifications for or against it. It isn't productive. I do think this is an instance where you are better off paying for a month than spending a lot of time trying to get it another way. Sometimes, I like to put things in the perspective of I make X dollars an hour, how many man hours did I spend to do X task? Cost benefit analysis. This isn't always practical, thus the "sometimes".
She is friends with Snoop. They bake shit and cook together. It is completely amazing.
As someone who is out of the loop a lot, what is it about Docker that you hate? What do you use instead?
It took me weeks to wrap my head around it, but now I enjoy being able to spin something up without too much work. At work we have the whole CICD thing with Docker and K8, but I am pretty far removed from what they have to do in the run files.
What other kinds of workflows do people use these days?
I have no words. I feel like there needs to be better presented safety information on these printers and especially on the materials that we use with them. Some of the datasheets are sparse and it shouldn't be a pain to find the damn safety sheets. Speaking of safety sheets, your boss is required to have ones for the printer/resins/etc present at your workplace within your main Safety Data Sheet book.
Can I get proper Linux drivers and kernel support for the Wi-Fi 7 card that came with my motherboard, please? Pretty please? I would really like to have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi would be a bonus. Stupid ath12k.
When I did ceramics for non art major, I would listen to that on repeat for 2-3 hours at a time. No drugs. I would just zone out, sculpt, throw some pots, and play with nice relaxing clay. Tangentially related, have you seen Children of Men? You get Court of the Crimson King and some other music references about, like the giant floating pig.
I am so confused. It seriously doesn't mean, "of fucking course"? I never knew and I don't think I can retrain my brain to think otherwise on this one. I was raised by an uncouth teddy bear, so fuck is just a sort of normal word for me.
Today I Learned.
I don't know what everyone else's case is, but my work provides a laptop. None of my home machines have Windows, but the work laptop does.
Also, get the updated kernel out of the backports repo as the main repo is pretty far behind in my opinion. I needed 6.5+ to get the hardware compatibility for some stuff and then I more or less had an out of box experience. I also highly recommend having your /home on a separate partition or drive. This way you can keep your user files if you ever want to change or reinstall the OS.
Don't feel bad about messing up the install. Everyone fucks it up a few times. The best one I did was forget to make the user account AND did not set a root password. Thou shall not install things at 2am...
I heavily heavily sympathetize. I can't get the damn things open. I bought the reusable mesh bags because it is far less frustrating to use. Except when I forget to bring them...
It is super easy to cancel. You even get a partial refund if you want it gone today. Wait a couple months and see if you really miss it. Join the piracy gang. Ultimately, you are the product and Internet streaming has turned into cable TV. Take back what little privacy you have left.
The games that just let you choose within the options are gold. With GeForce Now, OSX, Moonlight, or 3rd party controllers it is sometimes a total mess to just display as a damn PlayStation or Nintendo controller. I can't stand the Xbox layout and it is even worse when I get used to playing a game with one layout and then I am expected to use a different one because using X launcher on other system doesn't see the controller that way.
I can't help that my brain can't switch back and forth easily nor mentally remap buttons that clearly say something different when I look down. I have put labels next to the buttons on my 8bit controllers so I can "remember" what the Xbox layout is... The only layout I don't need labels for is PlayStation.
Best "holiday"s are the ones just chilling with friends, even if it is remote. Play some video games, go out for a walk, or maybe cook something you haven't made in a while.
I more or less stopped doing gifts for people. Might get the kiddos something kind of useful or educational. I would rather do an activity than spend money on useless crap.
I just use a browser addon to always use old reddit.
As a women I don't get much say in it, but we could never afford haircuts growing up so dad and I cut each other's hair, but I wasn't given much choice. The top one looks like someone tried to make a little kid into an adult, but on the other hand, if he wanted it that way, why judge? Especially if it helps their self esteem.
I am a huge proponent of letting kids choose their own style and express themselves, even if we think it looks bad. I knew a lot of kids growing up with bowl cuts, snazzy buzz cuts, and just generic "insert male haircut here". It is just hair. It grows back. There is always going to be a little extra to unpack once you get their peers involved, but that is another lesson entirely (body image, unhealthy expectations, etc).
Is running Linux off a USB drive possible? It isn't ideal, but you can still have persistence if needed? There is also WSL, if you don't need a GUI.
Been saying this for days. Her whole life, her children, friends, family; exposed to these crazies. Every bit of spite will be directed at them. It may not even be safe for them to live there. Her husband. His job? All fucked. Who knows how long it will take for this shit to blow over and still be left with the tragedy of needing healthcare, losing a wanted child, and being punished for it.
I have no idea how we got to it before at I mostly use smaller channels and friends, but I just tapped on the # channel-banner-name at the top, without having to think about it too hard. I have never seen this screen until now, but having separate tabs for all the shared links, media, pins, and members is something I wish more apps did.
I hope they can find a happy middle ground for users, or give users enough customization options where they can configure what works for them. I hate that only 3rd party apps for things like Reddit and Lemmy actually give you control over your interface. Is it too much to ask to have customization options like the old days? 😥
In general, you don't want DC or Ethernet cabling directly next to AC wiring. I forget the exact rules and distances, but you definitely don't want them in the same conduit at least. Shielding only helps so much. Just a general note as you probably didn't mean it quite so literally...
I do like PoE though! I have a server rack that powers a bunch of RPi 4s through a PoE+ switch. Had to make sure there was plenty of headroom as RPi 4s can pull just a wee bit of current under full load. I am just happy it works at all.
