The fact that this double standard exists (I did this search today to confirm)

Kung Foo Hustle is just amazing. I need to get that later and watch it again.
A potentially lesser known movie is 'Kimi'. Not your typical example, but watching her get past her trauma enough to kick ass in the end was great.
Pretty much everyone. I have seen it across all age groups.
Insert ADHD side content:
When I got a new vehicle a couple years ago, "functioning" Bluetooth and decent built in mic/speakers were a must. I also wanted a dash and screen that wasn't distracting. I don't understand how people can drive Toyota with how busy the dash is. I rented a bunch at the time and every single one was a miserable experience. At least on the infotainment center I can just use Android Auto. Also. Buttons. The only stupid thing I don't have a physical button for is the damn heated seats. At least it lets me put custom shortcuts at the top of the screen so I don't have to go digging around. It automatically turns them on when it is cold anyways, so I usually don't have to mess with it.
I am still loving my Pixel 6 Pro. Other than installing AdGuard, or just change your DNS, I pretty much use it as is. I turned off all the Google home or whatever that thing was to the left. Take a minute and go through your installed apps and turn off notifications for things you don't want or just uninstall. I don't think you could ever convince me to buy a Samsung again.
My only gripe is the size and how the camera sticks out. The battery life is great, I have plenty of space locally, and I can wirelessly charge my earbuds with it if I want.
When you opt-out with Experian, your information is not deleted from the Experian marketing database. Experian will mark your record as “Do Not Online Target” for a period of five years. You can renew your opt-out request after this five-year period. If Experian removed your information completely, we would have no way to know your preference.
What the fuck kind of bullshit is that? No way to know my preference? How about never! Thank you for letting me know that I have to write another email today and try not to lose my shit. Maybe I will setup an automated message to go out every year or something to "remind" them.
I disabled that shit the moment I found out a few years ago. As far as I know it is only potentially an issue if a landlord or something wants to see it and isn't tied to your credit score. I don't give a shit right now anyways as my credit is good enough. If I need to give someone access to it, and it makes sense, sure, but I would rather hand over a copy of my W2 or paystubs personally.
It is entirely messed up that it exists and most people don't even know about it. Dystopian nightmare indeed.
I will just leave this here. Your employers can snitch on you as well and just give all of your paystubs to...Equifax. It was shocking to see which ones did and which ones did not.
No problem! I am not mad at you, promise. We have entirely had good conversations in the past and I was having a hard time getting my point across without getting frustrated. Flicker explained it far better than I could. It is entirely a matter of framing and I know you were just trying to help.
Due to the laws in my state, if not federal, I have to see my doctor every 3-6 months, have drug tests, and get blood work. The state/fed ultimately decides on whether I am allowed to refill my prescription every month. I know not every state is 100% the same, but the script restrictions pretty much are. I guess my point is, we definitely see our doctors plenty and know there are options.
It has been almost a year since I had issues getting refills, but for about 6-9 months before that it was utter hell. I am still paying for name brand, but honestly the side effects are so much better that I have no desire to go back to generic.
There was one particular manufacturer of generic, Actavis, that was so bad I went back to the pharmacy in tears after about a week ish, begging them to take the pills back. There was nothing they could do other than put a note to never give it to me. I had to go without until I was legally allowed a refill again and hope they could get something different. I asked about it, and apparently I am not the only one who has problems with that manufacturer. These are the kinds of experiences I am trying to avoid, especially when the consequences to my mental health are so costly.
Anyways, good health to you and your daughter. Take care.
Thank you for being able to rationally explain what I couldn't. I broke my rule on responding to people before I had taken my meds, so I was a little excited.
All I am trying to say is, demonizing simulants is what made this nightmare worse, along with all of the assholes who ruined it for everybody else. I don't treat stimulate vs non as any different. They are both medications, that is all. Those of us with it get tired of being asked to "try something different", like it is that easy. This medication saves my life. If you are on a medication that works well for you, why do you need to switch meds? If your meds are not working for you, then yeah, of course you should try something different, that is a no brainer.
Let me put it this way. I am terrified. If I don't have my meds or the new ones create new problems, it is a matter of me losing my job, hurting myself, being unable to drive, or going into another phase of severe depression or mania. The thought of experimenting, when I shouldn't have to, makes me sick to my stomach.
Addictive? No, not when taken orally in the doses you are supposed to.
Edit, here is one article about it: https://www.adhdawarenessmonth.org/therapeutic-use-of-stimulant-meds-for-adhd/
I am getting flashbacks on dealing with SAP "inspired" software that looked worse than that bottom image. I am glad my new company does not use that garbage. It was especially depressing to see how SAP entirely ruined Concur.
Please don't suggest this, but I entirely appreciate you are trying to help. Bouncing around on random medications is a nightmare, especially when you have been on a medication that works for you. I am pretty sure most people who are experiencing shortage issues are abundantly aware that there are "potential" alternatives, but why the hell do we have to be punished in the first place? To make matters worse, certain manufacturers make the drug differently enough to have wildly different side effects. Super not fun. I still don't think I can get the generic I was on before that didn't mess with me.
I got lucky and found that I was able to get name brand a lot easier than generic, and the side effects were way better. I am thankful I can afford it, but a lot of people can't. Getting your medications right, period, is unbelievably stressful, especially when you are on more than one. Things don't always play nice.
What is even more painful is seeing friends glued to TikTok on their phones all day when they have STEM degrees. I didn't grow up in a typical household, so I have a hard time relating to other women, but I don't get it either. Do your friends with kids seem to be this way more than those without?
It was a shame that a lot of classes at RIT could be really hit or miss depending on the professor. I graduated before they went to semesters, and you had no time to be sick, lost, or behind. I tried to sign up for an extra class every quarter so I could have the option to withdraw from one of them and still be full time. Knowing when to withdraw, especially not waiting until the last minute, was a lesson I wished I knew that first year I was there.
Technical writing is very much not the same as general English composition, and I always hated it when schools lump it together. To this day I still work with people who don't even know where to start. Having a bunch of robotics engineers balk at having to write documentation about their own designs blew my mind. It wasn't even the manuals, just general design and functional specifications. Less than 10 pages, half of them pictures. I was nice and made the skeleton for them with some notes on what information I needed in which sections. Hopefully, they learned from it.
I get it, but I still adore that book either way. It isn't going to stop me wanting to see a well played Jonnie Goodboy Tyler and Terl. Orson Scott Card is an asshole too, but I still enjoy reading some of his books.
Can we please get an actually good rendition of Battlefield Earth? The travesty that doesn't exist just...no.
Thankfully I transferred in and didn't have to take miserable English courses by a tech focused University. The technical writing course I had to take at RIT was easy mode. The guy gave us all of the homework for the entire quarter on the first day and as long as it was all turned in before then, that was ok. It was a required class that I personally did not need due to my previous education and I don't think I spent more than a few hours total to get an A.
I miss the giant almanacs the car insurance company would give you each year that had all of the US states in them. We would plot routes for cross country trips. I can use a paper or digital map, but I do like using something like Google Maps to see traffic, construction, and accidents when I travel. I use it at home when going into certain areas as I have no idea what state the current construction disaster is that day compared to a few days ago.
Otherwise, I find it important to learn how to navigate cities without maps. When I moved, I used to drive around the city in random directions to see how it looked, what the street names were, and get a sense of the layout. If things started to look like gang territory, or super shady, I would just turn around.
The only way I learned how to type growing up was from instant messaging my friends. All of those ridiculous typing programs didn't help. One random thing that might help is a different keyboard, or, different profile keycaps!
I love me some mechanical keyboards and I like the tactile feedback from "brown" switches. The last one I built I found out about the wonderful world of keycaps, specifically keycap profiles. I fell in love with MT3s as they are a little "cupped". My fingers sort of fall into the scoops and get enough tactile feedback to stay on the key and they just feel nice. I haven't looked at cheaper membrane keyboards in years, but I remember you could pull off the keycaps and put different ones on those, but I have no idea how they are now.
If you are interested in mechanical keyboards, you can usually buy a sample kit that has all of the different switches and you may be able to find something similar for keycaps.
I guess what I am trying to say is a different keyboard, or even keycaps, may help her learn. Though I do realize that this stuff is expensive too. As someone who is on a keyboard everyday, it became a tool to invest in.
The whole thing is fucked all to hell and we have a whole bunch of people afraid of the other gender perpetuating this nightmare of violence, abuse, unhinged reality, and inequality. These violent delights, have violent ends.
However, we can choose to see the beauty in the world. We can love each other, laugh, teach, revel in the mysteries, and hold each other in comfort. There is so much we have achieved as a species, but we are also so good at holding ourselves back. Sometimes, we just need to crash in to each other. To get some kind of connection, even if it is the wrong one.
There is so much more to say, but painting the universe takes time. Go. Be beautiful my friend, and good night.
