I feel like there's always been a culture of boys and young men who didn't respect women, there's just never been podcasters actively promoting it.

The internet allows idiots to broadcast their message worldwide and social media promotes the most controversial stuff in order to drive engagement and, more recently, to promote a culture war that keeps the populus divided.

Appropriate that you used tea bags because it's a popular legend that tea bags were created after customers misused the product. Some tea sellers started selling their tea in silk bags with the intention that customers would remove the leaves from the bag before use. Instead, customers dipped the bag of leaves directly into water.

Couldn't they just rate limit requests like every other API?

My guess is to maintain plausible disability. A foreign government assisting you win an election isn't illegal if you aren't aware of it. It becomes illegal when you know it's happening and do nothing to stop it.

You can learn those things any time. Do you mean your goal is for your income to be from games/webdesign/art? In that case you can always join a company. If you mean you want to independently create and sell your works it's going to be very tough. You're essentially starting your own business and most business startups fail.

There are definitely improvements that can be made in this area. I'm all for requiring transparency about what exactly is being purchased, like the California law that requires informing the purchaser if they are buying ownership or a licence to access, or Steam's store page requirements to list all DRM, third party accounts, anti-cheat, etc. However, this initiative is vague, doesn't suggest any actual law changes, and its promoter seems to be more into the idea of data hoarding than consumer protection.

This has nothing to do with consumer protection. He's even said in a video that he wants the genre of gacha games to end. I play gacha games. Why does he get to prevent me from playing games I like? I thought we were protecting consumers? I feel like this cause is like the PETA organization. It's definitely a great idea in general, but they're going about it in an extreme way.

You can always request a refund while outside the 2 hour limit, it's just going to be manually reviewed instead of automatic.

The time limit is arbitrary. There are lots of games that can be finished within a few hours. I've heard some devs say their short games are refunded at much higher rates than longer ones and recommend ensuring a game is at least 2 hours long. It's like YouTube paying more money to creators who make videos that are 10min+. Now you have videos that could have been 2 minutes stretched out for meta reasons.

I doubt Blue Prince specifically tries to hide game mechanics for 2 hours to prevent people from refunding it. It's just a slow burn puzzle game.

The source code leaked is all custom code that hasn't been updated since 2015 and uses functions that have been removed from PHP for being insecure since 2019. The hack supposedly took advantage of PDF uploads not being scanned for embeded code. 4chan uses a program called ghostscript to create thumbnails of uploaded PDFs but the version they use is from 2012 and the hackers likely used a known exploit to get it to run embeded PDF code.

So unless the other websites are also running software from a decade ago, they're probably good.

If they don't fix the vulnerabilities their site had then putting it back online would just lead to continuous hacks. I'm guessing it's going to be a massive overhall. 4chan was started by a 16 year old in 2003 and really hasn't changed much since then.

• Civil Contempt (coercive) - incremental fines or jail time until the charged follows an order.
• Civil Contempt (compensatory) - a fine paid to someone who was wronged by ignoring a court order
• Criminal Contempt (direct) - jail time meant as punishment for directly disobeying a judge while court is in session
• Criminal Contempt (indirect) - jail time meant as punishment for disobeying a judge while court isn't in session.

Criminal contempt can be pardoned and Trump has pardoned it before. Civil contempt cannot be pardoned but it only lasts until an order is followed.

Enforcing a contempt ruling is the next issue. Normally a US marshal would enforce it but they technically answer to the Attorney General, who answers to Trump, who could order them not to listen to the judge or be fired. A court could theoretically deputize someone to enforce the order directly, but that has never happened and people could just not recognize the authority of the deputized officer.

Keeping animals that have been bred into domestication over thousands of years is different than catching a wild animal and putting it in an enclosure.
