  • If a human did this, they would at least get a ticket with a fine, and have the violation recorded on their license which would be revoked if it kept happening. With the computer controlled car, the cop called customer support and was like, "hey you might want to look into it or something."

I guess we can't expect the people hired to protect capital to act against capital, but it's still a bit disturbing.

  • Here me out please.

Throughout most of the time humans existed we lived a migratory existence. It is only with the adoption of agriculture that staying in one place sense made sense.

Now here we are, with like 2% of our population involved with agriculture and still living that way.

We should all migrate like birds and stay in cooler climes during summer and warmer climes in the winter.

Obviously this is a huge change, but we can do it!

  • Intimidating the ignorant is bad though.

When I was at the worker's council in a company a couple decades ago, we insisted that the company update the contracts to remove illegal clauses. The companies' position was that since they were illegal and therefore unenforceable that they did not matter. We argued that employees are less likely to know which particular laws impact which clause of their contracts than, say, full-time HR staff. And that not knowing they might assume that they are legal.

I'm happy to have moved to a country with worker councils in the law to protect workers in this way.

  • I help my kids with their schoolwork. It's pretty reasonable, and also offers plenty of opportunities for me to talk with them about deeper issues that schools don't have time or expertise in teaching. However even the basics they offer are okay, without any parental kibitzing.

Full disclosure: I live in Holland.

  • Voting booths are important. People should be able to vote how they want, and that means secret ballots. This is only possible with a secure space.

I know that Americans love mail-in voting and yearn for online voting, but mail-in is a poor substitute for voting booths, and online voting would be terrible for this plus many many other reasons.

  • I prefer a touchscreen in general. Although I realize that different companies have better or worse systems. I read complaints about self checkout in the USA and scratch my head since in Holland self checkout is lovely.

Trying to use AI is a dumpster fire though.
