That’s how it always is. I have one coworker in her mid twenties and another in her mid forties (I’m in my mid thirties). The younger one was saying the older one looked good for her age and I was like “??? But she’s not old???” But just like I see 50 as the line for older and 80 as the line for elderly, she sees them as 40 and 70, respectively. I’m sure my 75 year old dad doesn’t feel five years away from elderly (unless his knees are acting up)

That’s fair, lol. I chose it because I wasn’t in shock and the doctors said I should have been in serious pain, as a metric of my (dangerously) high pain threshold, but then I didn’t give any context.

Then why assume there are no illegal immigrants from Italy or nz? The majority of illegal immigrants entered the country legally and overstayed their visas, which is much easier to do if you’re from a place with automatic tourist visas.

I’ve never willingly done cocaine, but it really, really hurt and the eye drops just fixed it.

I got medical cocaine once. I had a chemical burn on my eyeball from inadvertently spraying shave gel into it, so that it underwent the get to foam reaction under my eyelid (the bottle slipped and I reflexively grabbed it). It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced, by far and I’ve broken bones without realizing it.

I was in the ER, literally writhing in pain, and they were asking me questions I couldn’t really answer at the moment, so the dr got annoyed (?) and gave me some eye drops. The INSTANT they hit my eye, the pain disappeared and I was suddenly able to breathe normally, sit still, and be a person. It only lasted a little bit (maybe 5-15 minutes, but I can’t really remember), so they reapplied them a few times while I was there. I tried to get them to give me some to take home and they were weirdly cagey about it, and then they explained that it was a cocaine solution. I then asked if it was just 10% in saline solution or what and the doctor made me promise that I knew I could not buy pure enough cocaine to put in my injured eye safely.

Yes. That’s why I’d be impressed if a random friend showed me one and said they painted it.

I keep wanting to make a post in shower thoughts asking how the hell other people remember they need shampoo, but by the time I leave the shower I forget both the shampoo and the post.

I got shampoo today, because my husband remembered, and I therefore suddenly remembered the post, though I no longer need it.

US-American fascism isn’t new for Latin America. I’m not surprised that there are good people there who can recognize and name it. Kudos to him for stating it so plainly and not trying to soften it.

I’m an American immigrant married to a German, and it definitely took us a bit to adjust to each other’s feedback styles- he thought every dish he made was my new absolute favorite, and I thought he disliked my cooking at first, because I’d say something was delicious and he’d say it was fine, lol.

But I’ll take it, because this way Germans think I’m quick witted when I respond with that.

Long sleeves and long underwear/leggings, two pairs of socks, flannel-lined jeans if you have them, sweatpants and jeans on top if not, flannel or similar overshirt, scarf(!), sweater/sweatshirt, winter coat (or 2 additional sweaters/sweatshirts and a raincoat or other large windbreaker), boots, gloves, mittens, and hat.

You won’t die, especially if you move around. I’ve had to take the coat off while shoveling in those temperatures, though my feet and hands were unhappy after a while. Definitely have a cup of hot liquid when you get back inside though.
